  1. Hello!!

I made a DVD for about 30 people using DVDLab-Pro Beta, because of the great option available there that I didn't see in any program.
Most of the people who got the DVD could see it and use the menu and everything... But a few couldn't! One guy told me the menu didn't work at all - he couldn't use it and the movie didn't play right!

Is there anything I need to take in consideration when I'm making a dvd so most players can read it well with the menus and everything?? The bitrate of the MPEG2 maybe? Or is it the program responsable for stuff like that??

I have a project I'm doing for 180 people! I want it to work well on all DVD players!!

    Thanks a lot!!!!

  2. If it works on most players, then there can't be a problem with the way the disc has been authored. If you have stuck to DVD specification then it should be fine.

This is likely to be a media problem - some of those DVD players cannot read DVD-Rs or DVD+Rs. Try looking them up in the DVD Players section to see if they do play those formats.

It could be the media, some players don't support dvd-r or dvd+r or crappy cheap media.

And I wouldn't use DVDLab-Pro Beta, it is still kinda buggy. You can try the final version but I don't think all bugs have beeeeeen fixed. Some other good authoring tools with lots of features are Ulead DVD Workshop, Sonic DVDit PE.

  4. Thanks a lot for the quick answer.

The media I'm using is Verbatim and I'm burning X2.4 - the slowest I can on the media.

The same movie - using the same media but without the Menus worked on the guy's DVD! Meaning - there's something worng with the menus - right?

if you have stuck to DVD specification then it should be fine
How do I know i'm stucking to DVD Specifications? I let the prog do all that - I just draw the lines and links

And Dvd-Lab Pro is the best software I've seen - There's lots of fuctions I didn't see on other software - like Branch (Playing chapters in any way and then going back to the main menu), going back to the last menu in use! (That's an option I'm using in the DVD and it's essantional for my client!)

I'll try to use the Version that just realeased too - maybe it's because it's a Beta version...

    Thanks for the Help

  5. When burning for clients, for maximum compatibility I use DVD-R Taiyo Yudens at 1x and use AC3 audio (for the States). I also use DVD-Lab Pro.

You're still going to run into people whose players are a couple of years old and very finicky about what they will and won't play.

  6. If using DVD+R media, try setting the bit to DVD-ROM, before burning. Of course, your DVD writer, needs this feature.
