    Hey there,

I have a 29.970fps DV file. It plays perfectly.
When I use TMPGEnc to encode it at 29.970 fps, the sound is always out of sync with the picture.

Can anyone tell me what's wrong? THis isn't the first time I've had this...

Edit: This is also happening with ProCoder, which means I have no other encoding options... why would the file play properly but mess up when encoding? Is it anything to do with my file being 29.970fps and the DVD encode options being 29.973?

  2. As long as it's out of sync by a constant amount you can correct it with the "Audio gap correct" function in TMPGEnc. Hopefully your problem can be solved as easy as that.

Nope, there's absolutely no problem with the original file. In fact, in the encoded final product, it slips further and further out of sync as time goes on.

  4. Ok, if it slips further and further, this is serious because there is no easy way to solve the problem. Usually it is something to do with the original file, something that your encoders don't like.
Editing can cause de-sync, a bad capture causes it, or there could be a few frames at the begining or somewhere else that can cause it. Finding out the culprit will be hard without more info about your process, so you are probably on your own on this one, sorry.

Yes, that's your problem. Try selecting "do not framerate convert" in TMPGEnc and see if that helps.
