using winavi to convert mpeg (svcd/vcd) to dvd - it crashes

hi i have 2 films in mpeg format,they are svcds/vcd , when i use winavi to convert them to dvd the program gets so far,then the timer starts to go up instaed of down,the screen goes blank,should i use it to go mpeg> avi>dvd??
or use svcd2dvdmpg??

I would try SVCD2DVDmpg, though I suspect your files may be corrupted and this is why WinAVI doesn't work.
