  1. ok i have a anime file(.MKV format) that has french subtitles that i would like to edit to make it in english. It poped up an error when i tried to open the file saying that i needed the "Fourcc: RV40" codec. so i searched the web and found "Real Alternative" which comes with the file. after installed the codec, i played the file fine without any problems, but when i tried to open it with virtualdubmod it gave me these errors...

"MKV: The video may have variable framerate. If so we strongly advise you to use another tool to safely process your file"
"Couldnt locate decompressor for format yyyy(Unknown). virtualdub requires a video for windows(VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. Directshow codecs, such as those used by windows media player, are not suitable. only 'Direct Stream Copy" is avaible for this video."

i can grab the french subtitles and translate it to english and plug it back into the file, but when i try to save the file as a new .MKV file, the file seems to be broken. When i try to open the the newly created .MKV file, the playback is horrible. It skips, freezes, and alot other. Shouldnt a directstream copy be the same as the original? why when i save the new version, it skips so much? please help if you can
