I did the same thing in v1.5 and the dvd works fine in both.

Is there something I have done wrong in v2 ? - the I can only assume it is the front menu that isnt compatible but this seems odd as it is fine from 1.5.

    Any ideas ?

    Thanks
I have had a similar problem, the dvd i created wouldnt play in power dvd but would play in media player, also played fine on my standalone but wouldnt play on a friends standalone.

  3. Chris,

I will try some more extensive testing tonight and tomorrow but I have encountered the following issues so far

    AVI to DVD
When I converted a single AVI to DVD, and put a single vts item as a menu, the movie played, but periodically it would "stick" on an individual time, flicking about to times one second above and below for a while and then continued briefly before happening again. It seemed to try and replay a short element over and over again, much like a scratched cd tries to do.

    (S)VCD to DVD
I tried using v2 to do a dvd without a menu and it still wouldnt play on my standalone. It seems to be able to move between the titles and chapters if I skip forward through chapters etc, but it wont actually play anything. Im afraid I dont know the cause of this so cannot advise anything further on the subject.

If I try to do the same on v1.5, it plays correctly on both standalones and pcs. I dont think my standalone is likley to be the main issue as I can play DVD-R I create in other ways as well as purchased DVD-R movies.

Let me know any testing paterns you would like me to try if you need more info, also if you need further descriptions of what I encounter, please advise and Ill try some more.

I have not had a "perfect" DVD produced yet from v2 as playing on my standalone seems to not work correctly.

I will check the AVI disk later to see if that skips on the pc.

Let me know any details you want or need on any of the above.

    Thanks

  6. Hi Chris,

I made 2 DVDs with v2 and while they work fine on the PC they wont play in my standalone player. Well to be more accurate, the menus work, I can select and start a movie, but after a while it skips around, and fast-forward/rewind causes it to screw up - it skips and jumps over a short loop. I re-converted and re-burned with 1.5 and it works perfectly. I haven't tried 2 since then.

    Regards,

    Scott

  11. I have downloaded Beta 7 (build 2.1805.29370) but when i click on the settings tab and click on burn i get this JIT error message which i never had in any of the other beta`s,

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

Here is my guess. You have some software from VSO installed - but not CopyToDVD. Is this the case?

Well it is my fault for not checking the registry properly. I will fix that in the next release.

Can you add a new String value to the VSO key called CopyToDVD with no value? This should resolve it but like i say i will get it fixed.

Secondly, there isn’t the configuration option to delete the files along the way. With bin -> mpeg -> DVD mpeg -> video_ts folders with no clean up of intermediate files, the space used is huge. If we could have the same configuration setting options from 1.5 where this could be done, it helps keep the HDD tidy and prevents the likely hood of running out of space and halting the process.

Finally, I know compressed avis are an arse to work with as it is difficult to tell how big they will get, but is there perhaps some way of giving an idea on what the file size would be after conversion? - I tried to slap a couple of avis to a single DVD and the resulting folder was about 8gig. As this is too big to rip to a DVD, I had to delete the files and folders created and run the app again. If there was some way to know the files created would be too big for a DVD, it would help to decide which files to include in a project to get the most on each disc, without going over. This is something that has never been needed as (s)vcd mpegs and bin files, roughly convert to the same size after conversion, thus as long as the input is less than 4gig (or just over) the end project will be the right size...

PS - Is there a way of compressing the converted avi dvd_mpeg so you can get more than one on a DVD ? - I know it was discussed at some point but cannot remember whether it was going to ever be implemented.

Keep up the good work dude !!

Thanks for the info. I think it is a windows focus issue. Was the SVCD2DVD window minimised or hidden at this point?

No, in fact I had just started SVCD to convert the .avi file and then burn it, and I left it as a full window.

  30. Hi Chris,

How difficult would it be to add more than one level of menus so that selecting a menu item will either start playing a VTS or take you to another menu screen?

For example I have made a couple of DVDs of TV series where I can fit 3 seasons/series on one DVD, each consisting of 6 episodes. It would be great if I could use the root menu to select your season, which would then bring up another menu listing all the episodes for that season.

Or how about an option to use .bmp graphics for menu items in place of text - one graphic for each of the 3 states?

    Great job mate!
