  1. I converted a video clip from XVid mpeg 4 to MPEG1, only to find out the audio could not be converted or something, there is no sound in converted MPEG1. I checked the avi to see what codec was used for audio and find out it was "ac3 (0x2000) Dolby Laboratories, Inc" I have 2 codec "AC-3 ACM Decompressor" and "AC3 Filter " installed on my PC, but somehow TMPGenc could not get right decoder.
What could be wrong... any advice will be helpful. Thanks.

Never had any luck with AC3 and TMPGEnc.
Load AVI in Goldwave. Save wav. Use AVI as video source, use wav as audio source when encoding in TMPGEnc.

  3. Had the same problem and solved it this way: extract the audio from the Xvid, load the wav into TMPGEnc as the audio source and go for it. Works everytime for me.

  4. ............or you could just use a simple Avisynth script and frameserve to Tmpgenc. That will downmix the ac3 to uncompressed PCM and should work OK

Thanks for the advice. I was having the same problems getting TMPGE to work for me, too.
