I have several scenes that I encoded in TMPG. They are
just a few short sample clips that I was using as to set
of test samples to burn to DVD-R to test out the quality
with.
.
I used ifoEdit v0.95 to author them to VOB (each scene,
from 1 through 3 each)
.
I used Nero to burn to a single video_ts folder.
What I did was drag the first set from SCENE 1
and then I renamged Vts_01_1.vob into Vts_01_2.vob and
Vts_01_3.vob and then copied them into the same video_ts
folder in the CD window of Nero. They look like what
you see in TOTAL COMPILATION (from Nero's window)
SCENE 1
-----------------
VIDEO_TS
|_Video_ts.bup
|_Video_ts.ifo
|_Vts_01_0.bup
|_Vts_01_0.ifo
|_Vts_01_1.vob
SCENE 2
-----------------
VIDEO_TS
|_Video_ts.bup
|_Video_ts.ifo
|_Vts_01_0.bup
|_Vts_01_0.ifo
|_Vts_01_1.vob
SCENE 3
-----------------
VIDEO_TS
|_Video_ts.bup
|_Video_ts.ifo
|_Vts_01_0.bup
|_Vts_01_0.ifo
|_Vts_01_1.vob
.
.
TOTAL COMPILATION
VIDEO_TS
|_Video_ts.ifo
|_Video_ts.bup
|_Vts_01_0.ifo
|_VTS_01_1.VOB
|_Vts_01_2.vob
|_Vts_01_3.vob
|_VTS_01_0.BUP
Now, given the above "total compilation" of files, only
the first vob "VTS_01_1.VOB" played, as Chapter 1
and the rest never played.
Note: Nero did output a few errors.
Is there a way I can include the rest of my VOB's in one
compilation in Nero ??
I use ifoEdit to author as VOBs. I do lots of test
video_ts folder encodes.., but I'd like to just
pop in all those VOB's into one compilation.
I know I'm missing something here, but what I really
want, is to have these video_ts folders that have
a VOB in them to play as a chapter each. So, in the above
scenarios (scene 1 through 3) I'd like each to play as
Chapter 1, 2, and 3 if possible.
I'm missing something, and I need some assistance with
figuring it out here. I can't DVD Author, because I'm
under Win 98 Gold (not SE) so, anything requring SE as a
minimum, I can't use( other than ifoEdit
)
Thanks a lot guys,

thanks for the *very* quick response.
I'll give the guide you posted a try
Thanks again,

ok, I'm having some minor problems.
I placed all the vob files into one folder,
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB
It won't compile. I don't see the progress bar, as in
the guide
-vhelp -
ok, UPDATE.
It finally compile all my vobs. I had actually into the
box and type a "1" in it. Go figure. Then the progress
bar came up and joinging took place
Ok. So now I have a 203mb vob file. But, it did not
re-generate the other files.. example:
Video_ts.ifo
Video_ts.bup
ts_01_0.ifo
What do I do next ??
-vhelp -
..oh, wait a minute.. I'm reading further down the web
page
I'll update shortly
-vhelp -
ok.
This didn't work
It still played only one vob file, as Chapter 1
Even though the vobs were merged, only one clip played.
It should retain all chapter points from the originals.
ripping DVD's. I'm capturing VHS and Laserdisc and
encoding short sample clips to test on my dvd player.
Any suggestions ??

Hi again,
I just replayed the whole vob, and let it play. What I found
out was that it merged all the vobs, no chapter points.
But this is not what I was looking for
I'd like to them to play as chapters.
I did not inlude the .ifo and .bup files from the three
video_ts files that ifoEdit created, during the authoring
process (prior to vobedits join)
Any suggestions on how I can make each vob (though
merged) play each clip inside one vob file ??
Thanks for the help and all,

Use a 'real' authoring software (TDA, DVDLab, dvdauthorgui, GUI for dvdauthor...) instead of ifoedit...

TGIF..
All those apps require at a minimum, Win 98SE
That is the only OS I do not have. Actually, I don't use any of the other OS's
much.., even though I have them. So, as for my capturing needs, I really
only need Win98 Gold - - plus, I have much more familiarity with it.
Oh yeah.., back to my problem
Does anyone understand my problem above, and have any additional
suggestions ??
Thanks again,
