  1. I shot some video from my car on a race track where I had to mount the camera upside down. I want to convert the mini-dv to DVD and need to flip the video upside down. How do I do this? I have Pinnacle Studio 8 which doesn't have the option.

Download VirtualDubMod. Load up your DV avi file, then add the flip vertical and flip horizontal filters. Save it out as a new DV avi file, and Bob's your father's brother.

    Flip your TV upside down.

Stand on your head. Flip the tape around.

But seriously, the Vdub option involves recompression which means quality loss. If you could frameserve to your encoder directly you could avoid that as frameserving means that you don't have to save to an intermediate file. Not sure if Studio 8 accepts frameserved video though.

Sorry - I made an assumption that if it didn't have simple filters like vertical and horizontal flips, then it would not accept frame serving. This may be an incorrect assumption.

  7. Forgot that I had asked this question a long time ago. Where can I learn more about frameserving?

Are you saying that I can somehow capture video into Pinnacle already upside down?

Upgrade to Studio 9+. Then download the JPeffects plugins. One of the functions in the Transform plugin is rotate. You can rotate the video through any angle, including 180.
