Hi all, I have scanned this forum quite a bit and could not find an answer to a little problem. I have a XP Media Center pc with a Hauppauge wintv pvr card and have been converting my vhs tapes for about 9 months now. Well, I have decided to start using some different software packages to do this now to compare the capture, editing and burning results. Until now I have been using the preinstalled Arcsoft Showbiz software to capture and edit out commercials and Sonic Mydvd to burn. I now have tried to capture with the following programs; Sony's Pixela v1.5, Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator 6, Windows Movie Maker, and Sonic Mydvd. None of them, with the exception of Roxio's software, even see the card. Roxio sees it and lists it as the capture device, but when I go into advanced settings it does not allow me to adjust the video/audio input and settings. When I press play on the vcr, it does not even show up in the preview/play pane. What am I doing wrong, do I need a different driver, codec, or something else? It may just be that I am dense and have missed some simple little setting. Anyways, any input would be gladly appreciated.

It's not unusual for a software/hardware combo to be proprietary and only work as a matched pair. I had a similar problem with my Dazzle DVCII, I had to resort to a user forum that had created 3rd party apps that worked with the card.

  3. Very few capture programs know how to deal with MPEG capture devices.
