    Can anyone explain these reading. On the first site I get a very fast reading. On the second they say it's slow. Is this a con? BTW I have optus cablle

    It's all meaningless because the number of nodes is different between you and the server with each benchmark site. And it'll be different when you're actually on the web, so what's the point?

    I'm always suspicious of test results when they are trying to sell me something. I use this site, though from your location it might not tell you much. http://www.broadbandreports.com/stest

    You should be able to find a similar site closer. You should check several times during the day, and with different test servers to get an average. My cable down speed varies from a low of 300 to a high of 3000 at different times during the day.

    because cable is shared, your not the only one using it which means when more people are on the slower your connection. i judge mine by what speeds im actualy downloading at when im downloading a file from a fast server.

    Second one is a scam... Today I was testing my work T3 line and used one of these test sites and my reading was thru the roof.. Guess what, they said I needed to buy some optimization software to make it that much faster
