Hi all, newbie in need of help, just been to PC world, and it blew my brains out, the usual, ask the store for help and they point you in the direction of the most expensive software available,

just a question, just bought the sony dv and have installed there software (laugh), it says it will only put into vcd but i want my dv tapes backed up to dvd as im getting married this year, hence thats why i bought it, can someone point me in the right direction of the software i require, am i right in believing i need a firewire card,

whats Pinnacle Studio 9 SE like, that comes with card supplied but dont want to spend my money if its not what i want, again, dv tape to dvd with a bit of editing here and there

by the way, got my sony off price drop tv for £299.99, half the price of the shops so bagged a bargin there

    cheers

  2. Yes, you will need a firewire card to bring the video into your computer. And Pinnacle Studio is recommended for beginners as it is pretty easy to use. However be warned that it is still buggy and some people experience lots of problems with it. On the other hand, there are plenty who don't.

The program itself is pretty easy to use and I did not even have to read the manual to use it unlike Adobe Premiere. It will also author your video onto dvd for you. As a all in one program, it is pretty neat.
