    With the firewall off. If you have a firewall, or if somewhere along the route, an adminstrator has ICMP turned off, then the request will display timedout ***, but will bounce on to the next route. And it could be a bad router along the way. Head over to www.dslreports.com and do a line quality test. It will expose any bad routes along the way.

    The slow loading is 1) Some adds do not reside on the videohelp server, and take a while to load. 2) Beta Browsers (Firefox and Mozilla) have issues loading on alot of pages. Usually slowed down by resolving host. This can fixed with a few tricks and tips at the mozilla forum. 3) Spyware/Adware will slow down your system and M$ Internet Explorer.

    On XP, IE 6 performs just fine, no slowdown. Mozilla 1.7.1 likes to stall (Linux/XP), Firefox is better, but still not as fast as IE or Opera.
