Before I begin under no circumstances am I slating this website, I think it's one of the best on the net.
But recently I have came on for some advice and the pages take a 1 min or so to load. What's the deal with this?
No - before you ask I have a meg line with and using I.e 6, surely that is compatible? Just now I see there is a a 100 odd user on line with this website surly that shouldn't slow down traffic that much?
Now is it me or is my ISP pants? But I don't have problems anywhere else.

Everything works fine from here(Sweden). And the cpu-usage server logs looks fine.
Is it the same pages that are slow or just random pages? -
The traffic is huge and I bet that there are certain hours that the site becames slow.
Baldrick, our administrator, recently changed server to make things better (and - if possible - faster).
But even me, on a classic dial up, never had to wait a minute to load a page. Only on pages with many photos I have to wait a minute or so. For the average page, the time is about 5 - 10 seconds.

I just hit the nav-bar on the left for 'Covert' the page took over a min and a bit to open after the second attempt. And yet it took me secs to log into this forum and answer your posts.
You all understand it's no big problem, but just dam annoying.

I made a quick test:to open 'Convert' takes about 10 times the time as being needed to open 'Author'.
Seems to be something on Covert page, which slows it down.
On my connecting that means 1:10 seconds -
i'm not aware a problem on my router. All seems to workin good. So that one time out, is this the cause on this website?

Fine here, then again, I don't think the server could be any closer to me.

I also get this for the first hop:
1 * * * Request timed out -
I also get my first hop timed out. No speed issues though.
-
If your own a router the first hop is internal so your own router rejects your first attempt to go out. Thats not considered good.
Now that doesn't mean the 2nd attempt less then 10ms later might not work and you have no speed hit. But the fact remains that the router rejects you the first time. -
I'm using a fresh wndows install and when i hit the convert page it asked to download flash.... is that right? maybe your machine is slow at checking in with the flash server or something?
