  1. compress mp3s or whatever format song into one format that is so small

you can fit 15000-30000 minutes of songs onto one single layer dvd? 4.7 GB disks.

it does not need to have a great sound i mean it should be fairly good.

    possible...? thanks a lot

15000mins = 250 hours = 10 1/2 days. A bit rate of 40kbps would get you there, but I doubt "fairly good" quality would be achieved.

All PCs would play them, but standalone player support is limited. According to the DVD Players list, 300 players out of 4431 players listed can play DVD-MP3s.

    Possible ? Yes.
    Playback support ? Limited.

By my calculations (rough estimates solely using bitrates and excluding file overheads):
    128 kilobits = 79.5 hours on a DVDR
    192 kilobits = 53 hours on a DVDR
    256 kilobits = 42 hours on a DVDR
    320 kilobits = 31 hours on a DVDR

Many would regard 128 kilobits as "bare minimum" for acceptable quality MP3s.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  5. It depends what your definition of 'good' is, and what the audio consists of as well. 40kbs will sound poor with music, but is more than enough for speaking audio - audio books, etc. I've listened to audio books at half that bitrate and they are fine for that purpose.

  6. the reason i am asking is because. i got a video dvd over here, it has 20,000 songs on there. and 4000 has real person singing on it. and the rest have only background sound. and the sound is very good. i mean really it is very good.(even though not sure how good, but it is)

and can turn the forground sound off as well. and it has a total of 2 hour video on it. when you go to one song, it just go to a different section of the video, not the video for the song it self, but just a section of the video.

say song one start video at 5 minutes, and song 2 it will jsut to some other place of the video like 30 minutes. so it gaves feeling like regular video.

but anyway. that is on a dual layer dvd. half of that of course should somewhat achieve 10000 songs? i'm kidding. or at least somewhere close?
