I just want the best quality xvcd that I can squeeze off my apex 660. If I am using 720x480 to start will the apex 660 work with xvcd 480x480 at bit rate of 2450?

  2. I use 2520 bitrate on all my XVCD's and they play back fine.

    threev,

I never did get this (352x480) to work well for VCD stuff (xVCD) - always gave
me the jitters or sound would chop-chop, bla, bla, bla.

But, with MPEG2 settings (xSVCD) of 352x480, quality is very good, but depending
on your source (AVI from captured satalete or dvd). Source has to be clean.
. . .or not (but requres a lot more work) You can check them out at my web site
down below. I'm constantly updating it. Soon, I'll have it in frames for better
organization, but until I lean frames and its worth a visit.

And, they all play fine in both my Apex AD-500 and AD-1500 players.

    * compare what you have with what I layed out for you all (guage)
I believe that these are a big improvement over the others I've
seen here at this site (for guaging)

  7. Yeah, but mine isn't XVCD, it's more like an xVCD, since the resolution is basicly a VCD, only using MPEG2 Compression to make more movie fit

I think the main diffrence between X(S)VCD and my own Se/Sx VCD formats is resolution, as most X are higher then VCD resolution and mine is specificly VCD settings with the only diffrence is the compression type (MPEG1 or 2 in VBR mode).
