  1. haven't seen any studies about this! maybe you don't store them properly. anyway ritek's disc may not be the best in the range but they are good. I bought a batch of 50 of g04's, although they vary in quality the worse disc i've burnt still have an acceptable range pi and pif errors, pretty low still actually. if you want the best get Taiyo-Yuden DVD+R, although they may be slightly expensive. just avoid cheap discs, such as Princo and so on.

Taiyo Yuden: The best Discs around. Both CDs and DVDs. Never look elsewhere. The "just" silver ones are the best IMO.

Prodisc: Fair. Good. Not excellent, but fair enough. The best of the -so called - "Cheap" media

Ritek: a mixed bug. Personally, I don't trust this brand. Even visually those discs look like crap. I don't know why that hype regarding them, some years ago...

Princo: Excellent coaster. You can use it for decorate the walls, to put your coffee cup on, play frisbee with your dog, do techno - scalptures.... Or to look the sun during an eclipse. Another great use, is to decorate Discos: Lazer beams create wonderfull aesthetic effects when they point a Princo disc!

Nothing seen here on this website(except comments from the same people over and over again) lead me to believe that Ritek discs are anything but GOOD.

This is the best example of proof that I can think of really. A group of individuals who do not know each other at all placing comments and ratings about the media they have purchased.
Other than bursting into a Barry Manilow song and singing "Feelings....nothing more than Feelings"....where is the proof that Ritek discs suck?

With a grand total of 8 comments. That means only 8 people posted their reviews on Taiyo Yuden media.

Well did you use A, B or C grade Ritek discs? Many companies claim that they are selling the A grade Ritek but that is just a BS...

If you have using for example Datawrite/Datasafe/Bulks (silver)/etc cheap discs with Ritek dye then your comment wont suprise me 8)

Well those could be fake Taiyo Yudens. Many people can't see any difference between fake and real media code.

I can only give my own experiences with Ritek blanks.

    I've used probably around 800 -R's first G03's in a Pioneer 104, and now G04's and 5's in a 108.
I have had possibly 3 or 4 bad ones. All the rest have been fine and more to the point, still are.

No complaints at all from me about Ritek. Perhaps I have been lucky.

I only buy the Ritek G04's for -R and the equiv. Ritek in +R (sorry; son't remember the Ritek#). Any coasters I get I can trace to issues unrelated to media.

BTW, the +R's were purchased by mistake (I misread the ad) but the video DVDs I burn with these discs play perfectly in all of my players (new and old).

Based upon other comments here, I'll probably try the Prodisc brand.
