I have two stacks of Riteks right here....both G04's.
One stack is Datasafe Ritek and the other ones are "naked" silver topped Ritek's. LOVE 'EM.

I had a 6%-10% failure rate on other DVD+R's. The RITEK 2.4X DVD+R's purchased from Rima.com ($42 per 100) have less than 1% failure rate after 650 burns, I'll never use anything else with my HP200i.

Too many coasters. The media has taken a severe nosedive in quality. It's very unsteady. One pack can be perfect, the next entirely worthless. That's not good.

You only have a few choices with +R media.
Go find some YUDEN000 discs. Taiyo Yuden from RIMA.com or SUPERMEDIASTORE.com

DVD+R may not play in your player.

Lots of things you still need to read up on.

    Your player may be picky.
Buy the media that will work with your player.
I am not saying to buy Taiyo Yuden. Just try different media.
I also know one Samsung DVD player that will read +R, but will not read +R with book type set at DVD-ROM. You have to experiment both if you want to burn +R

  15. I've been using Ritek G04's for my business for nearly 8 months. Not one complaint from a customer that the disk won't work and not one coaster...and that's in over 800 disks.

    Same here....but not 800...more like 80.

  17. Ritek has three quality grades: A, B and C. So don't blame Ritek brand if you got coasters if you don't know what grade they are (or fake). For example:

Traxdata = Ritek A Grade dye
Arita = Ritek B Grade dye
RiData = Ritek C Grade dye

Ritek has never officially announced "grades" of media, so that's myth to date. People like NakedGeek (and aliases) were the ones pushing around this BS some months back. It never proved anything.

The only thing ever really confirmed was that the overprint discs were from various mistakes like bad printing the first time, so cover it up with ugly neon goo, and resell cheaper to not lose 100% of the costs.

I would love to but the conversation was "attorney privileged" so I'm not sure if I can?

    Typical.
It's not like we're asking for trade secrets or industrial espionage.
Just documents to move information from myth/bunk to reality.

  23. Well I can't reveal email conversation to public. It's against a law (in Finland it is). And I don't like to reveal my (inside) sources to anyone. Those are priceless... you just have to trust my word

I will echo LordSmurf's sentiments: Avoid Ritek -- they are too unpredictable.

Use Verbatim DataLife/Plus (MCC) or Taiyo-Yuden DVD+R. They are the ONLY reliable ones out there. It's not like price should be a huge issue now -- 8X ones are ~$0.60/each.

I think that's an artifact. They all have them (I have one for each of the menu options on the left ).

Print version if your printer can print to DVDs
just silver version if you don't have a printer that can print to DVD or if you like to use a felt marker instead of printing

    Ya....ok
Ritek are crap discs w/ a very short lifespan.
I have seen LOTS that work for a few months (maybe even a year) and then they crap out and become unreadable. I DEFINATELY would not give them to customers (that is, if you want them to come back)
