  1. Hello all, im trying to get a 235minute (.MOV) file movie onto a 4.4gb DVD-R.....wats the easy way to squash this file down using FFmpeg?.....

The file size is 1050x424 px, approx 235mins long and 1388gb in size. Data rate is 151kb/sec....so its big!!

I want to end up with Movie or AVI that i can chuck onto Toast with Jam and let it encode and burn.

    Thanks.
    Ben

Doing some math with the Bitrate calculator:
235 minutes of DVD video (NTSC film) on 4.4GB would require a bitrate of 2417 kbit/s, which is 19% short of the adviced 2994 kbit/s. (Worse for PAL or NTSC framerates.)

  3. Consider the KDVD preset, which can handle up to 5 hours in a 4.4GB DVD.
