I had thought that I had got over this problem(not fixed as I don't know why it happens) but the video file sizes are coming out wrong after encoding by tmpenc 2.5.
I have been transferring vhs to dvd and have found that for some unknown reasons some mpeg2 files are larger than expected. e.g.. A 95 min piece of video encoded with an average bitrate of 2600kb/s and audio 192 kb/s produces an mpg2 file that is 2.40GB(as reported by win xp). Doing a rough calculation I thought that this should have resulted in a file that was only 1.77GB. So I tried again with a drastically cut video rate of 2000Kb/s but yet again the file comes out as being 2.4GB(althought it could have been a few hundred KB bigger or smaller, I can't remember exactly). This does not always happen as I have been getting files encoded as expected for the last few weeks and the problem has so far only occured with three video files.
Does anyone have an what is going on? It's almost as if tmpenc is ignoring the average bitrate that I am setting and using one that has been set somewhere else or that maybe some avi video files cause tmpgenc to encode differently(can't see why though as I have captured all my video using my camcorder's pass through function)
