Hey guys, i have a Compaq DVD Player on my computer, and all of a sudden when I insert a DVD disc, my computer will not pick up that it is a DVD disc inside of the tray. I have install the latest version of ASPI for my drives, and it is STILL not working. Even went I open up a program to play my DVD, it says "no valid DVD drive/disc found". Can someone please help? THanks in advance.
P.S. By the way i am trying to rip the .VOB files off of my DVD for back up purpose w/ DVD2SVCD

Here's what I'd try, in this order:
1) Use a lens cleaner on your DVD-ROM
2) Defrag hard drive and reboot
3) Right click My Computer> Properties> Hardware> Device Manager. Delete the DVD-ROM and the IDE controller it's on. Reboot and Windows will autodetect and reinstall.
4) If problems started after installing something recently, uninstall it. For instance, having several burning apps increases the odds of compatibility problems.
Good luck.
P.S. Have you run aspichk.exe to see if your ASPI layer is working properly?Pull! Bang! Darn!
