Hey guys I need a little help. I just bought the Version 6 CFS from JWL. Previously I had to remove the gray cartridge cover for my previous JWL kit to fit right. The new version allows for me to put it back on. Problem is I can't remember how to since it was so long ago, that I took it off. When i put the S-shaped metal doodad back on it seems really loose, so I don't think I'm putting it on right. Can someone help me out....

    AU$50 + AU$25 postage is a pretty reasonable price.

Even better price if purchased in GBP http://stores.ebay.com.au/ink-wholesale
I just threw this entire thing away.........
I had bought mine September of last year.I finally got around to hooking it up last month.I had ink still in my OEM inks, so why waste?
So I hook it up and something isnt right as seen here in my example
So I emailed Wholesale to get some help. What great help he was.He had me try all sorts of things and quickly! Finally, after nothing was working, on my own I put back my OEM inks just to see.Well guess what, my prints came out as they should. So this told me something was wrong with the ink cartridges in the CIS and not my printer heads or otherwise.
So I emailed him back and told him, even showed him examples of the one above, one with OEM replaced as well as EACH INK color from a test PDF.
I asked that since it seems to be his CIS that is broken, if I could get a new one.I told him I know the CIS is a yr old, but I hadnt used it until now.Rather than say yes or no, he told me I needed to buy more ink from him.Not a new CIS, but ink????
I wrote back saying ink wasnt going to make his broken CIS work.
I did not hear back from him after writing back telling him that and requesting a replacement.I threw it away as I tried everything to get it to work.I primed the inks and everything. It just did not flow right.

Im not saying all of these are like this, but if you have a problem with this CIS he sells, might want to be prepared for him to say buying more ink will help the problem go away.Atleast thats what I got from his emails.Nice when i didnt ask for a replacement, but a salesman and no reply once I did ask.

I have been told the the shelf life for of ink for my kit is about a year it's JWL kit. I was going to buy refills when I bought the kit, but he has stated to me that the shelf life was a year or so. I don't print that much so the original ink in the kit lasts 1 1/2-2yrs for me. So perhaps the ink really did go bad just sitting there.

  6. I'm finally getting rid of mine. There's some kind of fail safe in these to stop you using them.

Twice for no reason at all now. I switch the system on and I straight away I get two flahsing red lights on top of the printer and it won't even move or do anything elese.

Twice I've took the device off took the printer took it back to the store twice they've replaced it and now its done it me again for a 3rd time today and this is clearly something bulit into the printer to stop me using these devices I'm buying another printer and going back to using cartridges its the only answer.....

  7. Jumbo, I'm sorry to hear that. I haven't posted in a long time, but I do come back once in a while to see how things are going. I've had my CIS (from Printforless) right at 11 months now and have never had the slightest problem. I think when or if I do have a problem, I'll switch over to refillable carts like Poolenglish has. However I don't think I could ever afford to go back to original carts. I believe I'll stay with Epson forever. That's all I've owned for the last 7 years. I'm truly sorry about your problem! What is your printer, make & model? If it's Epson, check out the frefillable carts Poolenglish uses. He got them from Printforless.com, Tim is the mans name & he does take care of his customers.

  8. Its an Epson R200 has anyone elese ever had this problem? The two red lights flashing ontop as soon as you turn it on.

Can someone please tell me. If I go out and buy a brand new epson R300, soon as I get it remove the back and put the drip tube into a bottle. Then I install the JLW ink system then I install the SSC service utility and keep resetting the protection counter.

The thing will keep running smoothly forever?

Humbo Holden I joined the forum Sunday so I could answer this question for you. I just encountered the problem last week. It appears that the R200 is calculated to need maintaince after a number of head cleanings. This is due to the fact that each time you clean the heads the ink is dumped into the printer itself, being absorbed by ink blotters. After so many drops of ink they need to be replaced. If the printer is under warrenty the only cost to you is shipping and handling both ways. Nearly as much as the cost of the printer. To replace them yourself is a major undertaking as the whole printer has to be disassembled. There is another solution, and I believe somewhere on this forum someone mentions it. It is opeining the accsess door on the back of the machine, using a small coat hanger or stiff piece of wire, lifting the clear tube that drains the excess ink into the printer, lifting it out the back access door, letting it drain into a small container. I use a small babyfood jar. You will also need to download a program to reset the chip that measures the amount of ink that has accumalited in your machine. You can download the program here, adding the protocols to the address. (eserviceinfo.com/index.php?what=search2&searchstring=R200). Its the R200-ap.rar that needs to be downloaded.

    Hope this solves your problem.

    Hi All

I just installed a CIS I got from ebay from seller Wholesale Ink, and the system works pretty good once I got all the air out. My problem is that the color has shifted to heavier magenta and not enough cyan. Could the ink be old? Where should I order ink for a R200 that will look like original Epson ink? Is there a metthod other than trial and error to adjust the printer settup to color match? And... are inks called UV resistant better than just Dye Sub?

    Thanks,
    Glenn

yes UV is better for photos...dye isn't bad, but UV is better. But it all depends on what is in you CIS kit. You can't mix the 2 and its a bitch to clean a kit to completely get rid of the ink, so you can switch to the other....eaiser just buying a new kit if you gonna change inks.....in my opinion

cannot promice that, though will tell that print an average of 400+ pages pr day along with numerous photographs meaning put machine to test and not have another problem since. except when first do it forget to check bottle for couple of days and ended up overflowing it. Of course that has not been all that long since doing procedure above. And it is real simple to do. Only takes 10 minitues tops. Most of that is fishing out the tube which lays partly concealed under a sponge at the access door. It is neccessary to empty container that you drain ink into. Have not installed CIS yet so refill cartridges frequently, as much as twice a day, sometimes more. If overfill cartridges heads will need cleaning which extrudes a fair amound of ink. Believe read somewhere that compleat head cleaning can use up to 7% of cartidge, so best not to overfill. Three printers set on work station, 2 hp photojets and my epson, Of all of them, only use epson anymore.

Let me know if this helps.

Mate, you think just ditching your old CIS & buying another one? How does this compare with just buying a new set of generic ink cartridges? I pay AU$45 for a set of 6 cartridges (you work the maths). Quality is great as far as I can work out? But of course I'm looking for even more cheaper ways... Too much to print!

  16. Spring, you are the MAN!!!

The reset utility from eservice solved the double-red-blinking-light problem on my older Epson, which the SSRC utility had failed to do. Whoopee!!!

I had done the waste-ink mod, but only shortly before the counter triggered. Note to all doing this that the mod has nothing to do with the counter, there is no sensor involved, just a software-driven counter. What a dumbass design.

My home-made refillable cartridges are going strong on their third refill, just printed several test pages on my original Epson after sitting for 3 months, prints are excellent.

Both my R200's are using the home-made refill carts, no problems so far. I just don't print enough for a CIS, especially with the problems listed in this thread. This one may be a record for length, and should be for useful information. Thanks to all!!

    Hot DAMN!!

Just had the disturbing thought that letting it sit unplugged for 3 months was the solution rather than the utility? Did not trigger the light problem before running it, it would occur after first print, although the Epson test page utility would not set it off. Whichever, it works now!

The SSRC gizmo does this, I reset my "protection counter" or whatever it was with it. I don't have the "drainage" mod yet but plan to. Or first, may just upgrade to R250 + ???

I still think GOOD but dirt-cheap generic ink cartridges are the go here. Please convince me otherwise?
    Quote Quote
  18. Multiple attempts with SSRC did NOT solve the problem. The new utility indicated counter was at max value.

Are you stating that SSRC solved the blinking light issue, or just appeared to reset the counter?
It indicated a reset for me, on both printers, but did not resolve the issue on the older one which had exceeded the counter value, causing the blinking lights and failure to function.

Don't know how "cheap" the replacement cartridges are, but $20 dollars worth of ink has given me 5 refills so far, while using original carts and chips, which are a known quantity.

The refill kit and chip resetter adds an additional $20-$30 dollars, but this is a one-time expense. I am already saving money, even assuming each refill is about 2/3 of a full replacement cartridge. At 1/2 I am $50 or more ahead, with another refill to go before needing another $20 worth of ink.

I am a lazy man...I would rather just buy a new CIS kit and be able to print for over a year, than have to keep refilling ink carts but that is just me. I have owned 2 CIS kits from JWL, and have not had a single problem (over 2 years now) The only reason I got a new one, was because the idiot I am I accidently put UV pigment ink in my dye ink system.....thus ruining my original kit....

Why is my printer continually doing head cleanings. For over a year I had a CFS system on my r200, and only occasionally would it do a head cleaning. I recently installed a new CFS kit and now almost everytime I want to print it does a cleaning? I never shut down my printer, because this is supposed to cut down on the cleanings, as I stated before. My old kit only ran cleanings occasionally. Now it's almost everytime I want to use it? Any ideas? I have set up the waste ink mod already. And I have the SSC Service Utility, if any of this helps?

Hey Nelson or Spring! I unzipped R200ap. If I install the program will it do anything to my printer by just installing the program? I ask because I did not understand that website at all & I'm not sure I want to use it till I get more info on it.

    Thanks for any help here!

  24. Hello all, I just was looking in some of my old doc.files in a Epson help folder I added and found this trick for resetting the ink counter. Now, I havn't tried it yet, so don't know if it really works, but wanted to know if any of you might have seen this before. I wish I could remember where I found it on the internet, oh well! Here it is...

"I have had a R300 for a while now and had a few cartridges in it. Recently a message came up on the screen 'parts inside your printer are at the end of their life' and the printer refused to work!
After searching the web it appears to be a waste ink counter, but I could not find any info on resetting it.
So I tried pressing different combinations of buttons on the printer and success.

Press and hold 'stop' 'maintenance' and 'power' buttons for about 10 seconds, a message will come on the screen saying counter is reset and to turn off.

That's it turned my printer back on and all works fine again."

Sure would solve a lot of problems if it works. I've never had a need to reset my counter, must not do as much printing as most of you.lol

  30. Update on the blinking light problem for the Epson R200.

The new service utility does show the lowered counter number, and the printer did work for about 10 pages. However, the problem is back.

Two red lights flashing after power-up, sometimes this is preceeded by a paper jam message if it occurs while printing. Interestingly, I can print Epson test pages all day long without triggering this problem. Now it almost always starts immediately upon power-up.

As far as installing the utility, no damage or effect on the printer itself.

Holding the three switches has no apparent affect.
