  1. Hey Macro, thanx for the link on colorbat.com.

    Didn't know of this site!

I'm ordering the parts for a CIS for a Canoni850. Gonna build it for the hell of it!

www.Printforless.tk is a much nicer website than printonadime's. He has good customer service and is very responsive to questions. He carries more kits than are pictured on the website, too. He has kits with 100ml tanks, as well as 70ml and 50ml.
This is coming up now, but you can't tell very much about the systems. No good photos and no descriptions of the tanks or anything else. Maybe still working on it.

  3. Well I think I will be trying the ink from Costco to refill my CIS system.

Here is a link to the MFG page

    http://www.ims-ink.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/home.main/home.cfm

I called them today just to make sure the ink itself was compatable and they said absolutely. The problem is that the carts for the R200 have a chip and they can't reset them. Well we know that most of our CIS systems reset automatically. So here is the deal, costco sells 540ML of ink with siringes, cleaning solution and everything else you will need to to do the refill for $16.99. The individual colors are 60ML plus it has 2 black 120ML. Then you don't have to worry about ink drying up, getting spilled and for many of us Costco is local. But you can also order these online.

Just figured I would share this with everyone since you guys are always sharing with us.

Thanks Dun4cheap, I needed this info. I can also say that colorbat.com not only sells parts for cis units but they also have the newer auto-reset chips however they cost $15 each....Thats $90 for all six...but be cautious because the carts he sells for the epson printers are sponged...If you want spongeless cis carts goto Http://www.weink.com

maybe the chips cause auto-cleaning when they reset...mines say they auto-reset to 90% to assure no auto-cleaning when the chips reset the levels....printers usually identify 100% levels as a new cartridge installation and will do what-ever it's programmed to do when a new cart is installed...My HP 1210 does an auto-cleaning and then it prints an alignment page when a new cart is installed...I think the Epsons do an auto-clean cycle to keep air from entering the print-head....I believe I heard about a conversation with an Epson Tech. that stated that air in the print-head can cause drying of the ink and burn out the print-head....I'll check with an Epson Tech. and post the results

  12. Dun4cheap and others,

    This ink:

    http://secure.stratitec.com/product_info.php?cPath=192_209&products_id=795

is sold at Sams for $17.
I'm not ready to refill yet on the Epson, but this is the ink that I used to refill my Canon cartridges. When it comes time to refill, not sure who I will be going with. If anyone has used the Straititec ink, let us know any information on it!

I'm currently using straititec ink....I get it from an bargain store in manhattan...It's one of those stores that sells everthing you find in infomercials.....they sell the photo kit for $19.99 it has 3 black 60ml and five color bottles...each color is 60ml...this equals 480ml of ink.....no different from jlwsales ink.....nothing to brag about...looks good when printing photos using microweave option..along with best photo and photo-enhance...not to mention unchecking the high-speed option, however it takes a long time to print one photo...about 3-5 minutes for a 4x6

FYI that's also what I intend to do. I already filled with the black from the IMS kit and so far so good. I'm waiting for the colors to go low befor trying them. Dun4, Let me know how your experience turns out. I'm curious about the colors. I doubt clogging will be a problem but then again, you never know.

BTW, my JWLSales kit autoresets no-problem. As for the wasted ink, I turn the printer on and off on a daily basis and I can't complain about the quantity of ink that goes to the waste tank. Sometime a few drops go in the tank, most of the time, nothing. It's like the cleaning is not always as intense. I know, it's funny but some cleaning cycles seem to last longer than others and I don't know why.

But all in all having the waste mod tank for over a month now, it filled up about 1cm of waste ink at the bottom of a 500ml water bottle which would probably be worth about a dollar or two of wasted ink max. For me this is a very acceptable loss and no cause for concern. If the cartridges started clogging or if ink was splurging in the waste tank, that would be a different story.
Fast, Cheap, Good: Choose any two.

ultraman, select a photo to print...when you get the menu asking what printer...it should be epson r200 if it's your default printer choose properties, choose glossy photo paper in the paper options menu, click on best photo...then click photo enhance...at the bottom of that page click advanced..on the left top there's a menu and the second box should say "best photo"...click the down arrow on the right side this second box and the inner menu should have photo rpm select it and at the bottom where it was saying "black ink only" should change to "super microweave" select it....you might wanna uncheck "high speed"

When I'm printing DVD/CD's can I print more than on at a time.

You select print then it ask you how much. I always do one at a time to play it safe. but if the programs ask how much DVD/CD to print it must be able to do it.

Does the tray pop out and automaically start when you remove a disc and insert the next?

I guess I am too scared to try and find out. does anyone know?

    What's up Mac
