I took the clip off as the istructions said to do. I have had know problems. As for the ink, the company I bought the CIS from also sells the same ink for it. $48 for a full set of 4oz bottles or $60 for a full set of 8oz.
I don't need any right now but I will soon so next time I see him I will buy it. The bad thing is their online prices are 2x as much...

after turning my printer off (for the first time in a couple months of using the jlwsales system with no problems) and then turning it back on again, I ran into a problem. It seems my dark blue ink is now clogged. I ran the SSC cleaning utitliy several times to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas how to get this color unclogged and printing again?
cheers

This hashing over an old subject but I thought I would share it anyway.
I have a CIS from JLSALES but have yet to install it on my R300. The reason? I still have about 6 complete sets of ink carts from www.megatoners.com
During a printing run of a bunch of 4x6 borderless photos, I noticed that about 4 carts were actually about hit empty. That is amazing as usually I am changing then one a time. Anyaway, I changed them and during the initial charge up my waste ink bottle recieved about 3ml - 4ml of precious ink. That's a lot of ink that the system spits out during intallation of new carts or normail cleaning cycles. Before the waste ink MOD when I did not see where the ink was going it never crossed my mind. Seeing that ink literally spurting out was a very graphic display of just how much ink does get wasted during these operations. So,,, my conclusion is thet the CIS per se does NOT actrually waste more ink than carts. Some had implied earlier that might be the case. If you are constantly running cleaning cyles, you will go through ink like crazy.
Anyway, I look forward to the day I run out of the carts and slap on my CISNo DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD! -
I've heard the newer CIS have updated chips which do not do a cleaning cycle on cold reboot. Does anyone know where the chips alone could be found?
-
Mine does not do a cleaning when I first turn it on. Also, I usually keep my printer on all the time.
-
dun4- is your CIS a jlw? I'm seeing other makers CIS on Ebay advertising as not doing a cleaning on reboot. I bought one of the earlier JLW systems so I don't know if his newer ones have been reprogrammed with the updated software.
-
No, mine is actually illustrated in page 18 of this topic. I purchased it from a local computer show for $99
-
johnnyd- I've had the same problem and a friend of mine as well. Fortunately I fixed mine, he's still working at it.
If you've done a few cleanings already to no avail, take out the system and let it sit half a day or so with the ink tank higher than the cartridges. Put the cartridges in sink so any leaking ink doesn't cause a mess.
If you still don't have flow you may have to suck some of the ink out through the bottom of the cartridge with a non-needled syringe. If you read back a few pages the instructions for this were outlined. -
I started up my printer with JLWsales CIS and I don't get any clean cyles at all Mybe I do have a new version, i picked it up a month ago.
-
I've had my CIS for a few months now. I haven't had a chance to install it because I still have usable ink carts installed in my printer. Well needless to say one of the tubes now actually has dried ink in it and so far the ink isn't flowing in the tube for some reason. Does anyone have a solution for this!?!?!??!?!??!?!??!?!?
-
Ok, this may sound REALLY obvious, but unfortunately for me it's not. I don't have any experience refilling cartridges, as I"ve always (up to now) used either generic or OEM cartridges for my printers. The question is when I get refill ink (probably from atlantic ink) and attempt to refill it in my JLW CIS system, how exactly do I do this? What tools are necessary? Please explain as though I'm in second grade. Thanks so much!!
-
From Page 19: Thanks to bidefordboy
To refill your tanks :-
Take off the filter from small tank, inject your ink using a syringe untill the tank is approx. three quarters full, tip the tanks over so that the ink is transferred to the large tank, repeat untill large tank is nearly full. If you overfill then use the syringe to suck the ink out again. -
Thanks Bodyslide - one other question, where do you get a syringe that is appropriate for what you are recommending? I think I'm going to purchase from Atlantic Ink; I'm not sure if they include a syringe or not. I'm sure syringes can be found all over, but please help me understand exactly what to look for. Thanks again (and now I'm about ready to graduate to third grade!)
-
Most Dept stores and pharmacy's have syringes. I got the six I use from Walmart.
-
Yeap,
Atlantic does not include syringes. You have to buy some. I have only one and I refill one color at the time. The first one you will probably refill is the black one. When you will rince the syringe, you will notice the color is not really black, it is dark purple. This is weird... -
Hey Rick - I take it you have used ink from Atlantic Inkjet? If so, would you agee with a couple of other posts that I read about the ink being good? Any problems? Would you order from them again? I think I'm going to order the ink from them but am wondering what I asked above, as well as:
* Would buying ink from JLW Sales be better since this is the ink that's in my system now
* How much should I buy? Will the ink store ok for a long time? This won't be an issue if I buy the 200ml size, but if I went with a quart - that ought to last me over a year (at least). Will the ink be ok sitting that long? -
Dun4cheap i keep clicking on the link and i keep getting an error are you sure thats the right web address

@nickelzy
Get your syringe & gloves when you order your ink
http://www.atlanticinkjet.com/refillAcc.asp
If the ink is fresh it should have a shelf life of about 2 years. Store it in a cool dark place -
Thanks Bidefordboy - but which syringe should I get? They have three different syringes listed.
*10 ml syringe w/ 1 1/2" needle
*30ml syringe w/ 1 1/2" needle
*60ml syringe w/ 1 1/2" needle
by the way, isn't a buck a syringe a little pricey? I thought these suckers would be about a buck or two for 6. Oh well... -
I bought another cis kit but this time it came from printonadime.com. The tanks come with ink but the carts are not primed...it has an instructional cd that shows all you need to know but the tanks are so small that when I primed the carts it used all the ink from the tanks....I'm gonna mod my jlwsales cis kit with newer carts... My new kits auto reset chips don't allow the printer to do a cleaning...Ever ...when the printer is first turned on. And they auto-reset when levels reach 10%.... I noticed a funny thing....The routing clips are identical to the JLWSALES routing clips but JLWSALES doesn't give instructions on how to install the routing clips...I'm so amazed at how it works I converted the windows media clip into mpeg video and used my windvd program to take pics... I hope it can help you guy's that want guidance....P.S. I print with the top down and no problems...It's so simple a child can do it and there's no danger for the hoses!!!!
-
If you noticed the routing clips are the same as the jlwsales routing clips...you have the top piece and must connect the middle piece to make the letter "T"...feed the hoses through the top and put on the bracket to hold the tubes in place...what you don't see in this photo is to the far right there is a smaller clip with double sided tape on it(included in the jlwsales kit...it's meant to be mounted on the edge of the printer(gray part of the top casing)to secure the hoses..."remember not to allow more of the hoses than needed inside of the printer"(only enough for the print head to move to the far left)It's not gonna get caught if you follow the instructions and you can close the top without worries...one more thing I have to get some sleep because I got a full day tommorrow but when I get home I'll post more pics and maybe the actual video to "HELP ALL" but I have to slice the vid up because this forum has a 2mb limit and the vid is almost 6mb...I LOVE MY NEW CIS KIT!!!!
Is what we learn indeed a fact, or someones opinon? -
you guys worry too much!! the ink isn't dried up it's residue because the former ink flowed away and it was left alone....made of dye...true it will look dry but when you think about it ,it shouldn't be dry if you didn't break the clear seals
-
Thank's 'macrovision', great information.
Have been using my JWLSales system now for 4 months & am very happy with it. The only problem I have is that when the ink levels reset the printer does a cleaning cycle, which just waste's ink. Have emailed JWLSales and he said to use the SSC Service Utility, have tried it but it does'nt work on my r300. Was wondering if you guy's with the older system are having the same problem. It look's like it might have been solved with newer chip's. If this is true I will contact JWLSales & see if they can supply a newer set of chip's. -
Hi guys,
I interested getting the CIS for my R200, and been read this thread, lot of people use JLWsales CIS kit,
anyways, is there any cheaper CIS kit out there with still good quality?
anyone has tried another kit or this one
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=51298&item=6755133839&rd=1
their kit seems nice with it's own case
should I just use the JLWSales one since they are already proven
anyways anyone know how to fix the 'paper jam' or 'CD/Tray jam'
my R200 always show this kind of error everytime I done 1 print directly on CD. I need to keep pressing the paper button (sometimes take 3-4 times) before i can continue to print another one -
With all the exchange about trying to get your CIS system to not do cleaning cycles, got me to think - mine does a cleaning cycle occasionally (although I keep it on all the time so it doesn't do one every day) and shouldn't it? Is trying to eliminate the printer from doing clearning cycles really the best thing to do? I know from a cost stand point it is, but what about the functioning of the printer and quality, etc.? Doesn't the printer perform this function for a good reason?
