Hmmm.... in looking at my post I find myself wondering whether I am remembering that correctly. A CD can't fit inside a water bottle. I must be remembering a photo that had been rolled up and inserted into the water bottle, and not a CD. Its purpose was to prove that pigment ink is waterproof.
But does it work on CDs, is the real question? And is the R200 engine able to accept pigment ink without getting clogged?

Just to add to the questioning I had a response from JLWsales about wether Pigment ink was an issue with the R200. His response was a link to his latest auction with the CIS pigment ink system.
One of the earlier posts on this topic made a reference to JLWsales NOT recomending the pigment system. However the response I got didn't make any mention of problems.
I will assume that nobody has tried the pigment version of his system. Hmm,, guess I will sleep on it tonight and make a decision in the morning.
I understand the color matching difference and the extended fade resistance. My biggest concern is wether the printer can handle the pigments without clogging. -
My cis should be here today, although earlier fedex said they could not find it on their uk system, but the system has just been updated and the cis is in the UK.

I seem to remember reading somewhere, its not a good idea to use pigmented inks on the R200/R300 print heads. They tend to get clogged. I COULD BE WRONG, thats what I remember reading.
Cuban Cigars, Women and Movies.... What a wonderful combination!... I have a web site, and I've seen it... HAVE YOU!?
If you can read this, you do not need glasses -
My cis arrived today, after emailing fedex, the item was delivered tonight at 5:05pm. Ordered it last saturday, was sent on wednesday from hong kong and arrived today. Great service.
I installed it tonight, took about 5 minutes, but i had read the 17 pages of this thread over the last few days that gave me pointers and what to expect so that helped. May order another one now for my other r200, as i got 3 printers on my system, 2x epson r200 and my samsung laser printer.
anyone in the uk sell the ink for these systems?
cheers

I received this email from JLWsales today and thought I would share it with you folks.
Dear,
We had some complain about the ink color when they didn't know much about
profiling. We did best to help. but most of the customer know about the
profile will be able to get it work out.
Also some customer let the print head dry so it clog the head (just like if
you have Epson ink as well). We are also support this problem by offering
small head cleaning kit. For pigment ink printer, you need to keep running
it once in a while no matter who's ink you use.
Please let us know if you have other question.
Thanks
JLW

ink system for Epson
Good Morning JLW,
Thanks for the response. Have you had any complaints from your customers
who have used the Pigment system in their R200 printers? I am oncerned
with clogging issues. Thank you for your time.
Rick
Take it for what it's worth. -
Thanks for the info in the email. You might want to edit the post and remove your email.

This advice from JWLSales is correct. I have been thinking of changing to pigment ink on my r300 and have been searching around various sites for information. Here is a short extract from the Symponic site :-
All Pigment Inks exist is a colloidal suspension and are thicker than dye and water. When the printer is not used often enough the pigment ink dries out on the docking station pads as well as on the bottom of the heads, which reset on the docking station pads. This can cause the nozzles to become clogged. This can also happen with dye printers.
If you use your printer every day I don't think there would be a problem, but if you leave it for a week or so I think you could get problem's with clogging.
Here is a link to some test file's on the site. http://www.inkjetcolorsystems.com/Image%20Downloads.htm
Test file three is a beautifull pic. -
I had LordSmurf add a link on the First page to goto JLWSales Page so people can find his Auctions easier.

Hi
I have had my CIS installed (R300) about 4 months with no problems, but all at once I am being told that the magenta cartridge cannot be recognized, I have tried taking all the carts out and putting back in, still the same message, I have cleaned the chips, still the same message, it wont let me do anything. Can anyone please help (before printer goes out of window) Thankslife's a shit sandwich and everydays a bite -
HI
Can anyone explain to me how to remove the ink pads from the R300, I can see a small one on the left of the printer which I took out and cleaned, but I could see what looked like a large one underneath it but I don't know how to get to it. There is a large piece of foam in the middle of the printer but it looks like it is encased in a plastic holder and there is no ink on it. I think the main ink pad is under it.
Thankslife's a shit sandwich and everydays a bite -
The complete r300 service manual is available on the Ozmod's site. You will have to register first though.

Have been using my CIS for nearly four month's & would'nt want to go back to cart's again. The only problem I have is that when the chip's reset the printer go's through a cleaning cycle. No big deal but just a waste of ink. I emailed JWLSales about this and he said to use the 'ink freezer' function in the SSC Service Utility. Have tried this & also the 'Store Counter Values' function, but these don't work on my r300. Has anyone else had this problem & found a way around it ?

Just wandering,
I've had my JLWSales CIS system for 2 months so far and it works like a charm. But some people who have been using it longer or maybe more intense, are complaining about clogging (especially with light magenta for some reason).
It would be informative to know about your experiences with the system.
Here's mine:
Time owned: 2 months
Ink used: still on original ink though black is down to about 30%
Problems: None to be reported. True it does seem to gulp more ink than regular cartridges but maybe that's just an impression.
Other: Did the waste mod thing.
Regards, -
I am about to install my Mod Drainage Tank. I was just wandering what kind of bottle do most people use. I have my hose just need a bottle??

I guess as long as your using some sort of plastic see-through bottle your OK.Fast, Cheap, Good: Choose any two. -
Mine arrived today via FedEx. Unfortunately somewhere in transit the yellow tank leaked ink all over the contents of the package. The entire thing is covered in yellow ink. It's a bloody mess. Anyone else have this trouble and what was the resolution from Jwlsales?
-
Send JLWSales an email explaining what happened. They should atleast send you a refill of yellow. If not replace the entire set. Just ask them nicely?
-
Already sent one off. The entire apparatus is covered in yellow ink. I am tempted to try to wash it but the yellow is literally on everything. You'd have to immerse the whole unit in water to get it reasonably clean. I'll wait for their response. By the posts here in this thread they sound like reasonable in the area of customer service.
-
Just a quick update:
I received my package yesterday morning. I haven't installed it yet - too sick. I could barely move yesterday. I am a little better today, but I think I will wait a few days before I do the switch.
For me, delivery took 4 days, but I still considered it fast. I wonder if coming over a weekend made any difference? Oh well. . .
FYI fellow Canucks:
I noticed on the bill it says" ink samples" and a value of 20 bucks, so that MIGHT have something to do with weather or not I get dinged for duty/GST. -
The Fed-Ex guy just left. Man that is some fast shipping. Soon as I am finished with work I am digging in.
I think I will hold off on the ink waste pad mod for now. I am too antsy to get this thing up and running.
And then the original (unopened) ink cartridges get listed on Ebay. -
It's in but I think I did a bad thing. On the bottom of the ink cartridges there is what appears to be a piece of scotch-type tape over the outlet port. the one on my yellow cartridge seemed loose and thinking it was supposed to be removed I lifted it off the cartridge. Now that I am rerading this thread again and the instructions I saw no mention of removing any "tape" from the unit so I continued with the installation. I could have swore I re-affixed the tape back on the yellow cartridge but now I see the piece laying on the desk. Am I going to have a yellow leak with this tape missing? Can I just replace the removed one with scotch tape?
The printer spit out a test page just fine. -
That tape was suppose to be left on. Scotch tape will not hold. You should be ok without it. The purpose of the tape is to keep the rubber thing inside the opening at the bottom.

Hi Everyone!
I made an earlier post about a CIS from ezinkjets.com. I got the system as shown. I initially hooked it up using the top mount method with a spine from a
dvd-case. This resulted in double-flashing red lights on the printer during initial charge. I believe this came about due to the cable hitting the left side of the
printer as the cartridges were sliding on the rails during initial charge. I rerouted the cable to a front mount as shown on the first page of this topic. I also
ran 1 cycle of cleaning before printing.
I haven't had problems since I moved the cable to the front. The one thing I was looking for was the amount of ink used after the initial cleaning. I haven't
noticed that it has used a lot, but this is a personal judgement. I will install a waste-ink bottle sometime next week. I've printed about 30 dvd covers and
10 dvds since the hook up without any problems.
I've noticed that my ink reservoir looks different than the ones of JLWsales, so I started hunting on ebay for other CIS systems. I found a few auctions
that appear similar to the system that I have. I guess they're pretty much all the same, but different manufactures.
-
This is the same system I purchased in Costa Mesa a few weeks ago for $99. So far I have printed over 120 DVDs without problems and 60 DVD Inlets. I mounted it just like the manual said, pretty easy setup. However, I had the initial problem with the hose on the R200. I later talked to the guy and noticed that he had moved the mount closer to where the DVD drop down is, instead of what was illustrated in the manual. He said they were going to update the instructions to show this on the R200. Other than that I love it.
-
Exactly the same system as mine, been installed since boxing day 2004 apart from one problem with the magenta that turned out to be my fault no problems at all, and I have the ink waste system installed works great as well.
life's a shit sandwich and everydays a bite -
Found this on the web, don't know if it works but worth a try.

I have had a R300 for a while now and had a few cartridges in it. Recently a message came up on the screen 'parts inside your printer are at the end of their life' and the printer refused to work!
After searching the web it appears to be a waste ink counter, but I could not find any info on resetting it.
So I tried pressing different combinations of buttons on the printer and success.
Press and hold 'stop' 'maintenance' and 'power' buttons for about 10 seconds, a message will come on the screen saying counter is reset and to turn off.
Thats it turned my printer back on and all works fine again.
I hope this helps R300 owners out!life's a shit sandwich and everydays a bite
