I just received my CIS kit ordered it Monday Afternoon online, got Wednesday morning, Damn Fast!!

I am still using my ink that I received with my Epson R200. the black cart looks like it is going to run out before the rest. When it does, do I have to install my kit then?

I suppose there is no way I can use one ink at a time from my kit?

Trust me, you'll want a bigger safety margin than that container gives you.

You will have to replace all your carts at the same time. But hang on to your Epson carts in case you need to return your printer under warranty.

Thanks for that info, I usually throw out my carts

When I install, is it mandatory to install the drainage system at the back

If I don't, what are the risks

I've read the other threads and most people say it saves ink, if it does, How

I can't use the ink that gets drained out, can I

Also the instructions of my CIS system says I don't need to use the plastic cover that holds the carts (Epson r200), but I've seen on this thread that some people say it is important because the carts need good connection.

    Which is better

I have seen many install disasters on this thread and I just want the most successful install [/b]

jlw sales cis kit is okay however the cartridges are totally empty(no chambers) and I thinkn that is why the cis kit uses alot of ink. I went to weink.com and ordered a cis clear blank because I had an air leak in my jlwsales cyan cartridge. I replaced it with the clear blank which is almost identical to the OEM cartridge..It has chambers..I'll see if it uses less ink
Is what we learn indeed a fact, or someones opinon?

I belive the chambers were not put there to make the cartridge look cute....I think they have a purpose.....Maybe when the cartridge is charged the chambers make the ink spray instead of stream

you need the drainage system and the reset program for the waste counter because eventually the waste ink will overflow into the printer. No you cannot use the waste ink unless you use it for finger paint or indian war face paint...I use my kit without the gray cartridge cover and I haven't had a problem yet.Peace!!!!!

I decided to keep mine on. I did cut a small portion off where the clip for the tubes go. I also hot glued the clip to the cartridges.

As I stated the JLWSALES kit is okay However he could have included this support arm I seen (looks like a square with double sided tape)that keeps the hoses clear of the casing and from lifting the cover while printing and I hate to say it but if you buy something from the 99 cent store just remember the rule is you get what you pay for!!!! But JLWSALES is still Okay ....Very good service!

The Canon Pixma IP3000 Prints cd/dvd....Uh....only if you live in the u.k. or order it from the U.K.....Why??? Because Epson owns the copyright on direct cd/dvd inkjet printers...ummm the ones that also print on paper.....That really bites

First post here at videohelp.com... I bought the R200 about 2 weeks ago and was stumbled upon this thread shortly after. I finally decided to move my backups from folders to cases for a number of reasons, but mostly for the ease of finding the actual movie I wanted to watch. Six 128 disc folders leads to a lot of searching!

Well, that meant printing many covers and new discs, which of course means LOTS of ink!

So... I decide to take the plunge with the CIS recommended so highly here in this thread. Ordered it Monday evening and was awoken by the FedEx man trying to deliver my package on Wednesday morning! When everyone said fast shipping, they certainly weren't kidding!

Still had ink in my carts so ran off about 50 covers to kill them off and installed the system later that night. The install couldn't have been easier (I had read and reread the many setup instructions in this thread) and was up and running in about 15 minutes. Decided to take off the grey cart cover and haven't had any problems. After printing another 200 covers or so, ink levels still high (black is lowest, of course) and couldn't be happier with the results!

Just a funny (interesting) aside though... I didn't have any air bubbles in my tubes when I installed the system. Lucky for me I suppose, but I really mean it when I say the install couldn't have been easier!

Just wanted to thank everyone here for posting their results and recommending this system. It's already saved me lots of time and money! Thanks!

  19. I just got my R200 today and am thinking of just ebaying the original ink cartridges and ordering this CIS based on the reviews. If my system is new do I have to install the Epson cartridges to initialize the printer?

Has anyone tried the pigment version of this system and verified that the water smearing problems from dye ink are eliminated on printable DVDs/CDs?

    Howdy y'all

I just ordered myself one of JWLSALES CIS for my R200. I am actually excited about it. Go figure. As a matter of fact it was my first (and so far ONLY) eBay purchase. While I was happy about printing directly to disc via my R200, I was totally p!ssed about how expensive the ink was. To me, the R200 had become a throwaway printer, since I could buy a completely new printer (with new ink) for around 100 bucks (cdn) vs a complete set of retail inks for around 140.

NOW, I am actually looking forward to letting my kids go nuts printing in colour. Up to now, I would always (accidently) change the default setting to either print in economy or black only.

    Note:

I purchased my CIS for 73 buck US. I got outbid at the last minute by someone else for 74 bucks. Then I got an email saying I had a second chance to buy it (again) at 73 bucks. When I checked his listing, I noticed he had dropped his Buy it now price from $78(79?) down to $73. So I bought one.

You should be careful though, since he has multiple prices for the same stuff - 73.00 78.50 etc etc

    P.S.

To all the canucks out there - did any one have to pay any additional charges? ie: GST? duty?

    I was charged $73 for the CIS & $30 for shipping - total $103 (~$127? cdn)

no taxes or duties were charged at this time.

    POTENTIALLY OFF TOPIC RANT FOLLOWS:

However, in the past, I would get dinged for GST & duty for (almost) anything relatives sent me from the states. I even got charged duty & GST on a FREE REPLACEMENT item - clearly marked on the invoice as a replacement for damaged goods. I tried arguing that I had already paid for the item the 1st time it crossed the border, but alas, I paid the blood money to get my product.

Just a quickie bump to see if ANYONE has tried the pigment ink and if it does a better job on CD/DVD's

Or maybe to put it another way: I have read the threads regarding protective spray (Krylon 1313 and such) being applied. Is this a cure for wall hung photos as well? I mean if I can get 15 - 20 years without significant fade I would be fine with just using the spray vs the added cost of the pigment.

I do find it interesting that his pigment kit is $91 higher than the dye kit. Yet when you check his bulk ink pricing the difference is only $33. Does the pigment system need different hardware?

Or could I flush the system once I run out of the original dye and use pigment then?

  29. Hi,
I'm the proud owner of the JWL CIS. It works great for me but I have a little probleme with color matching. I use Kirkland photo paper ( costco ) with great result. The only thing is for good color reproduction, I'm stuck selecting colorlife paper ( i did many test and so far this is the best I could find ). Problem is with colorlife you can't get borderless print. I tried JWL ICC profile with very poor result.

I contacted Epson and they are of no help regarding borderless for colorlife paper. I tried to explain that the paper I'm using is 10mil and will suport borderless but seam they are too dumb to understand or just not willing to help. If there is some computer genius that can help me modifying the driver so it let me use borderless with colorlife I will be so happy, I tought maybe some wiz kid could be up to the chalenge here !

I love my CIS ! save me a lot a money so far.
    Thanks !

  30. I would also like to know about pigment ink vs dye ink. I'd rather use pigment ink than mess around with sprays, unless the pigment ink doesn't work properly in the Epson R200.

I know that pigment ink *is* waterproof because I saw this fact demonstrated at one of the local stores. They had a CD disk inside of a water bottle, and it had been printed with one of the later-model printers that uses pigment ink and prints on CDs. The CD inside the water bottle was perfect. I picked it up and shook it to make sure it was really true, and yep - the CD was definitely inside water. Completely surrounded by water. It had been there for awhile. Yet it was perfect, with no running or fading or any other problems.

But the question remains - can I use pigment ink in my Epson R200? Is the engine the same as the engine for the other models that use pigment ink? I would have gotten one of those instead of the R200 but the R200 prints on CDs and I need that feature for my business. (And since I can't get the Canon with the CD-printer in this country...)

Has anyone tried using pigment ink in the R200 or R300?
