I trying to run Pinnacle Studio 9 however after a few minutes of editing a Video it freezes. I have a desktop PC with XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2 and a Pentium 4 2.0 Ghz with 1 Gig of RAM and a Nvidia GeForce video card Ti4400 with 128Mb Ram. Do I need more RAM or better video card to fun Pinnnacle Studio 9 ? Is Studio 9 that huge ? or memory hog ? Why is it freezing up ? Thanks for your help.

Nope you have plenty of RAM and a video card isn't going to make any difference. Have you tried Pinnacles website for the latest patches?

    > Why is it freezing up ?

Probably because it's a piece of crap program that works very well for about 10% of the people that try it.

I'd look for patches first for studio 9 since you already have it, or try ulead's Video Studio. Free 30 day trial www.ulead.com

Well try Ulead Video Studio then, it seems to be the general consensus around here that Pinnacle Studio<anything> is crap. I used it only a few times (ST8). First three times I tried it, it promplty crashed. My first big adventure into the video editing world

I really don't know what else to tell you, it's a free trial for Ulead' Studio. If it works then it's a issue with studio 9. You could try the pinnacle boards too.

.....too many studio's in this paragraph

There may be a local problem to your computer. What are you doing when it crashes? Is it happening at the same operation? Try Pinnacles forum ...
    http://www.pinnaclesys.com/studio9/s9Support.asp?doclink=/studio9/s9.html&templ=65
    (hmm ... coming soon)

Then try the Studio 8 forum and ask there
    http://www.pinnaclesys.com/support/products/info/default.asp?ProductID=454&langue_id=7

Pinnacle has a history of new products being unstable and many patches. Studio 8 was good after 8.12.

I used to use Studio 8 to capture- at the time I had no choice since my capture card was a Pinnacle DC10 card and nothing else would capture with it.

For editing almost anything I've tried works better than Studio- I mostly use TMPGEnc DVD Author and now TMPGEnc Mpeg Editor. I've also used Womble mpeg editor and DVD-Lab. They all work very well.

Yea and there's probably a mile long cheese line waiting to get in. How can you possibly launch a product and not have online support set up. Are they that incompetent that they can't set up at least a forum.

  11. Amazing Studio 9 locks up the computer the same way Studio 8 does.

Com'on Bob...tell us how you reallly feel

I know there was a problem with nVidia and open gl in Pinnacle Hollywood FX and Studio 9. Are you by chance using open gl? Pinnacle did recommend replacing the open gl.dll
