  1. Which one would be faster?

    Encoding such as divx to mpeg2 cause I do quite a no of burning.

    Someone enlighten me please

    Probably the Intel by just a little, just make sure you have a lot of spare cash. The AMD chips might be a little slower, but a whole lot cheaper. The encoding speed is very much dependent on which model of either CPU, and to a lesser degree, the memory and the board you are using. Just my opinion.

  3. I read that the AMD 64 3800 runs circles around the P4 3.4 with HT for gaming AND encoding. I was thinking about getting it but its too much $$ for right now....

    not a lot of difference ... slight nod to Intel right now but could go either way next time .. what redwudz says is right -- depends on system as a whole and what models you are comparing ..

    not at all -- ive got several of each and no diff. for mpeg encoding ..

    can't speak for gaming ..

    really not too much of a difference, intel has a slight edge. but if you wanna compare your wallet size after purchasing either i would take a good look at amd. as far as gaming, amd no contest.

    I think the more important factor is software that supports the full 64bit structure..
    This is where the jump should occur...
