  1. Greetings,

I'm having problems with my burns freezing and I have to restart in order to get my desktop operable again. I am using CopyToDVD and I have a NEC-2510A. I researched the CopyToDVD Log and this is what I found:

This is only a couple of logs of failed burns from the complete log file.

I also looked into Win2k's System log (Right-Click My Computer > Manage, Computer Managment > System Tools > Event Viewer > System) and this is what I've been finding:

The first of these errors is what catches my eye as what may be the cause of my difficulties. The freezing doesn't always happen @ the same point in the burn, I've observed that it occurs anywhere from 8% to 15 seconds left on Finalization. I have tried to make sure that I keep enough free space on both the Data Hard drive I'm burning from and the System hard drive for Cache memory, but I still get freezing sometimes. To give an idea of how often it happens, I probably have 10-15 coasters out of every 100 discs.
If anyone can help me with this please respond, hate wasting resources (discs, and most of all TIME).

  2. Today I disconnected the removeable storage tray, to see if it was the cause of the problem. I suspected this after repeatedly making coasters and finally realizing that the 'RMS removable storage device' that the system event viewer was referring to was indeed my removable tray. I have burned about 5 or 6 movies back to back since I have done this and had no problems so far...I will keep you updated.

Could anyone help me with why this Removable storage system is causing such a problem? I bought an IDE controller with hopes of connecting most of my hard drives to my system at the same time in order to save time rather than shutting down and switching hard drives whenever I want to burn something from another hard drive, but it caused even worse problems when I installed it with the Removable Storage Tray still connected. I'll try to installed the IDE Controller w/o the Removable Storage Tray and then see how it goes. BTW, the Controller is a Promise TX2, if you have any suggestions on better controllers, please link me to them.

    peace
