I have have playing about with a number of DVD auhtoring software. I read some advice on this website, that TMPEnc DVD Author is good. I do Agree with that.
But how the hell do i add a music to the menus?

You have to do that outside of DVD Author, but it's fairly easy: You take the background image and the audio you'd like to put with it, and you create an MPEG video file with that, for example using TMPEG (the encoder). That will create an mpeg file with 1 image, and the audio track.Originally Posted by pesky_25
Then you use that mpeg file as your menu background, making sure you use "motion menu".

Duh, thanks- I'd wondered about how ot do that. Always thought there must be some button or menu item I didn't see. Should have thought of that simple solution myself. It's hell getting old....

You know what I need shot for even posting that.
That solution was so simple that it never even crossed my mind - ta for your help!
But you think those happy chappies that developed the software, cold have put a simple thing like that in the package.

When I played the background MPEG in Real Player I got the full 28 secs of sound plus a plain black background.Originally Posted by jeanl

mmm that's really weird. I don't know what could have gone wrong. Which version of TEMPGenc did you use?

Okay, what happened was this. I am using the exit music from Birds of Prey as the backgound menu sound. This was ripped from a VCD and so is in MP2 format. I have since re-encoded the music as a .wav file and it works perfectly. If I had known then what I know now I would also have used my Birds of Prey wallpaper as the background image rather than a blank .jpg. Even better would be if Warner Bros released the series in a DVD boxed set so I didn't have to make my own version at all. Thanks for all the help.Originally Posted by jeanl

I tried this and I still do not have audio in the menu. The audio plays fine in the menu preview, so I thought everything was OK. But after you burn the DVD there is no audio. Am I doing anything wrong or missing anything?
