Just wondered if anyone has a tried and tested method of authoring srt subs as selectable on a dvd. I usually go down this route:
1. Srt to ssa with subtitle workshop
2. Ssa to son with MaestroSBT
3. Author with DVDMaestro
Problem is that the subs always run off the bottom of the screen. Don't believe there can be a problem with the srt file as i dont think they contain any positional information. Have tried srt2sup and then rejig to no avail. Have had success with DVDSVCD but this doesn't like the avi i'm working with at present, it only outputs a very small .mpv file. So i've now converted with TMPGenc and if anyone can help out with muxing mpv, ac3 and correct positioning of srt files i'll be eternally grateful.
Regards, adyf.

Change the position in maestrosbt. Open the ssa, click on Styles, Select Default, Edit Style and change the Bottom Margin(increase it to around 44). Click on Edit->Preview to check that subs are higher in the picture.
