  1. Hi, first of all, if a dvd is not licensed in europe/america! Only japan, Am I allowed to make my own dvd of it? Bootleg?
Anyway.. If not, I want to make one for my own needs, and my buddies!

The thing is.. Im looking for a dvd menu maker programme! A professional one..
Not something like nero (put inn a picture, make some buttons)
    I want a pro programme!
Where I can make menus with more menus, movies in the menu background, advanced buttons.. Subtitle choises, credit menu.. And extra material!

So, I wonder, can you recommend some softwares?

DVD-lab or DVD-lab pro....but they are still a bit buggy. Ulead DVD Workshop is also pretty good. Or if you are a multimillionare DVD Maestro or Sonic Scenarist.

  5. Simply click on the DVD Maestro link in Baldrick's post (or in this post) to go to the tools page where you can find that it is only $5000 with no free trial or demo.

ULead DVD Workshop is a good program; I've been using the 1.x version pretty consistently and get excellent results from it. Since it's aimed more at the "pro-sumer"/small-business commercial market, it's a bit on the pricey side compared to lower-end consumer applications, but it's a lot less expensive than the full-bore professional applications like Maestro and Scenarist.

The only downside to DVDWS, if you're interested in subtitles, is that so far the 2.x version only seems to understand its own format; I couldn't find any way to import an already-made subtitle script generated from an external subtitling application. This is a point which I made very clear to ULead was heavily influencing my decision not to upgrade from 1.x to 2.x at this time when they sent their "customer satisfaction survey" to me at the end of the 30-day trial period for DVDWS 2.x.

  10. dvd maestro for $5000 sounds like an ebay figure. it is still available from certain dealers for much more than that

one solution for advanced authoring that hasnt been mentioned is DVD Studio Pro 3.x for the Mac. Relatively cheap for it's feature set.

  11. I think we might've found a good candidate for Sonic MyDVD.

For free the best that I have found is GUI for DVD Author. It doesn't include templates or any newbie stuff like that. It is very open-ended so that you can manipulate your dvd any way you want, right down to editing the .xml file.
