I am trying to convert avi(divx) movies into vcd and svcd.. although I have discovered that the audio is the tricky part.. it gets out of sync, now.. I have tryed virtual dub and opened avi, under video I choosed full processing, in audio full proccesing and under video -> compression I chosed the 4.11 codec... after saving the avi (40mins) I have a 1.5 gb avi.. that avi looks not as good as the original, so I was wondering if there is some better compression method? Iv'e heard that 3.11 codec should be better, is this true?

You should try the PicVideo MJPEG codec or the Huffyuv codec. Both provide very good qulity. You should try to use a noise reduction filter while processing the video because each time you do it looses quality.
