  1. Hi,

I’m trying to add English subtitles to a NTSC DVD movie, which I’ve done previously with other DVDs. I’ve got a perfectly synchronized subtitle, tested with DVDSubber and also with an external player while checking the subtitles timings.
This time after multiplexing –using either DVD-lab Pro or ReJig for authoring-, at a certain time till the end – in my case after 42:12 – subtitles appear before their actual timings, resulting in desynchronized multiplexing.

    Any suggestion is highly appreciated.

have you done some editing in the subtitle file? or joined subtitle files?

No, as I said checking the subtitle with DVDsubber or any other external player, the subtitle play fine from the beginning to the end. Desynchronisation only happens after multiplexing.

    Waiting for your rep.

I don't know what ReJig's problems might be, but if you'll check the forums at DVD-Lab Pro's site you'll see that DLP has significant problems with subtitles -- going out of sync, skipping, not appearing, stopping and starting for no apparent reason, etc. -- which the author of DLP so far has not been able to nail down. I never could get it to work right.

  5. Try to check the syncronization by opening the subtitle and the autdio stream with subtitle work shop.

How could you open the audio stream with Subtitle Workshop and what good would it do?

As you said you have everything demuxed, here are my sugestions:
1 - Load the subtitle into Subtitle Work Shop
2 - Goto to Movies / Open / *.* (find the audio file and load it too)
3 - Now the program can play sound and show subtitles on the screen

    Dear Sihyp,

You really got me there, I do'nt know which version of Subtitleworkshop you are referring to,but it's not possible to search for the wildcard *.* with the version I'm using, alas I changed the file suffix from *.ac3 to *.wav, and Subtitle workshop opened it fine, there was a desynchronized subtitle at 42:00 min, which although previewing with DVDsubber or any exernal player, only occured at that specific time, and rest of the preview or the times of the next subtitles were correct, but after multiplexing, it caused the desynchronization.

    Thanks for the hint.
