  1. Hi,

    I have recently backed up one of my DVDs to put it on to 2 cd roms as a svcd. I have followed the guide created by seffy and used the vcdhelp bitrate calculator. However when it had finished encoding i ended up with a file 1.45 gig in size - too big to fit on 2 74 min cdroms - is the bitrate calculator wrong?

    Thanks

  2. Well, 1.45GB divided by two is about 720 MB, which will fit easily on an 80 min. disc in mode2 format, so you should be in good shape.

    720MB will fit on a 74min CDR just fine. It should come out to 72-73min on the CDR.

    Hi zed,
    In your original post you didn't state the length of the DVD movie or the bit rate you used.

    Recently I backed up my DVD of "The Mummy Returns", the movie is just over 2 Hours and I had to burn it to 3 CD's using compliant SVCD settings.

    You can reduce the bitrate to create xSVCD's but scenes with fast movement could suffer as a result. Otherwise use VCD resolutions and a high bitrate to create xVCD's and you may be able to squeeze it all onto 2 CD's with little wasted space left over. Using this second method I was able to burn the first 3 hours of the Evolution documentory onto 4 CD's at a bitrate of 2500 using Sefy's SeVCD template.

  5. Hi,

    The bitrate I used was:

    average = 2007
    Max = 2496

    90 minute film to be spread over two 74 min disks

    I have bought two 80 mins cd;s so can i just divide the movie time in two (i.e 45 mins) and cut it with tmpgenc and then burn to disk?

    Im sorry if this is a dumb question but I have read the guides and they are sketchy on these parts

    I appreciate your help.

    regards
    Zed

  6. You can split the file of course, but remember when doing (S)VCD 74 mins isn't 650Mb, it's quite a bit higher, your burn program will tell you if it will fit.

  7. Using a bitrate of video 2200 and audio 224 u should get 90minutes on 2 cdr80s.
