Converting Tv-shows to DVD + Menu and Subs

Hi all...

For a while i´ve been converting various tv-shows to dvd, so i can have one season on one or two disk depending on lenght.
My problem is that i would like to add selecteble subs and a menu.

My first question is if it´s possible to "copy" a menu from an existing dvd alter it and use it? The existing DVD contains around five or six episodes.
My will contain 24-25 episodes.

To the same show i´ve got subs from the original DVD that i would like to add, i think it´s about 10-15 diffrent languishes, so i wnat it selecteble.

I have used TMPGenc to convert and need help with witch programs i should use for subs and menu. And if it not possible to "copy" a menu please tell me which program i should use...

DVD Author tools with switchable subtitles support:

I would use dvd-lab pro or dvdauthorgui or gui for dvd author. If you have .sub/.idx/.ifo subtitles you must convert them to text subtitles first using subrip.

Baldrick, thanks for your reply, i´m just woundering if there is any diffrent whit using the subrip on a sub file that contins 10 diffrent langues?

And do i have to type letters on every file or does the program learn it along the way?

You must type the letters manually but it learns along the way. You can also use vobsub, it works the same way as subrip.

Or download srt subtitles from www.extratitles.to or other subtitles sites.

Hi Again..

I sat with subrip yesterday, and i have one question about it, the subs i´m using is a .sub and contins 10 diffrent langues, do i have to create one .srt for all 10 or can i have them all in one..

I used subrip on one .sub and put all 10 on one .srt

But when i tried it all the translations showed at once on the screen

And i´m woundering if you know any program i can use to "rip" a menu from an existing DVD. I have one original DVD whit the serie im trying to konvert so i would like to take the menu from that and edit it if possible..

And why i don´t seams to find the "add menu button" in GUI for dvdauthor. I have enable advaned mode and titleset. according to the guide there should be a button but i can´t find it..

You can only add a (sub)menu to a titleset menu (not to the main menu!). If you open your titleset menu with the [+] in the explorer view, you should see the button 'Add menu'.

The titleset menu is automatically created as soon as you add a film to the project. Then:

Well, this is just what I'd like to do too: put more episodes from commercial discs on 1 DVD-R and add 1 language and 1 subtitle and leave out all extra's. Is there a guide explaining this in detail somewhere?

Hi Again!!

First of all i wan´t to thank Baldrik and Borax for you help

I´m now using DVDlab pro. I´ve completed two disk whit 12 episodes on each and 6 subtitles for every episode..

No one of the subtitles is default, so whoever are watching can select wanted subtitel.

Ivé created a "Play All" button that i linked to playlist 1, where all episodes on the disk are linked togheter.
My problem is when i use the "next chapter" button on the remote, if i have selected swedish subs, it automaticly selects english.
If i just select play all and see from episode 1 to 12 whitout changing the sub stays thesame.

i don´t understand why i changes when i change episode manually.

This is the only thing that doesnt work as i would like on the disks, so if anyone have an idea, PLEASE HELP.

the english sub is not set as standard, so i dont know anymore...

it was my DVD that did it. I tried it on another DVD, and it worked..
