  1. Hy there,

I have a hauppauge wintv pvr video card. Now I have it working to capture good quality data on 4-6MBit MPEG2. I also know, that I have to convert that data stream to MPEG2 first (Seems to be some sort of PVA file). OK, thats all I know - now for the problems:

I want to convert the recorded data to SVCD or VCD.

When I try to use DVD2SVCD and use the PVA mode, I can select the file but can't start the coding action. DVD2SVCD seems to have some problems with the PVA file which comes from the TV-Card.

When I try to convert it with TMPGEnc, I tried the following things:
    1. Use it directly with the mpeg2 import filter - application is not responding any more.
    2. First save it with DVD2AVI - gave me a d2v file and a mpa file. TMPGEnc can't read the mpa file. How can I use it anyway?

    Greetings

    Latexcat,

What is it (exactly) are you trying to do?

Are try trying to re-encoded an MPEG2 clip (that you encoed at high MBits) so
that you can run DVD2AVI on it and re-encode it to get a better quality output
    via TMPG or CCE ?????

If you PVR a PCI card or USB??

The USB model has to have it's audio MUXed (tmpg or bbmp, etc.)
In any case, I think you have to increase the Mbits a littler higher, ie., 9Mbits
if you're planning on re-encoding. (I could be wrong)

Can you give more detail, etc. ?
    Good night!

Visit my WEB site for some ( ATI-TV Wonder/PVR usb/Haup WinTV PCI/DC10+ ) Latest samples
    * compare what you have with what I layed out for you all.
I believe that these are a big improvement over the others I've
    seen here at this site.

  3. Hy ..

what am I trying to do? Hmmm ... record videoshows, throw out the commercials and burn them in a format which my dvd player (Pioneer) can read.

I know, that I can record directly to vcd format, but the quality is very bad that way.

I have the pci card. Recording in more than 6Mbit brings stuttering sounds in the resulting video, therefore I can't capture in more than 6MBit. I find the quality with 6Mbit good enough anyway.

So I want to record with mpeg2 format and reencode it to vcd or svcd with cce or tmpg in some way.

Good night? I just started working here The internet reaches far around the world I think then I should say "good morning" when you read this )

    Greetings
