  1. Thought some of you would find this interesting because I know I did. I was at the PCEXPO last week in NYC at the Javits Center browsing many of the exhibitions when I stumbled upon one from Shop4tech.com What threw me was that I've gone to this Exhibition 2 times prior (the last two years) and have never seen nor expected to see any of the online media merchants there as I know it's very expensive to showcase yourself there. The companies that usually attend are the likes of Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, etc. Interestingly enough what was more surprising is that shop4tech had a booth right next to HP & must of cost at least 70 grand for the three days for a booth that size and in that location.

When I saw them I started talking to some of the reps there and told them i've purchased from them before and I was pleased with their service. They started to go over some of their media lines with me but being that I was already familiar with them I told them that wasn't necessary. They asked if I ever purchased their "Matrix" discs before and I told them I had on two occasions and never had any issues and they then gave me a 4x and an 8x sample pack FREE. They actually had a really nice exhibit of the Matrix discs at the show.

I asked them if I could take a couple of pictures because I read alot about the online companies here and figured it would be news. They said sure, they can't stop me from taking pictures regardless of what I want to do so I said o.k. I was at the exhibition on Wednesday of last week, didn't get a chance to write this post until now and figured someone else may of already beaten me to it b/c i'm sure other members of this forum were at that exhibiton also.

Was anyone else here at that exhibition? It was like a madhouse, but a lot of nice exhibits, infodisc had some interesting stuff as well as HP with their architectural printers.

Here's one of the pics I took. If anyone wants to see others, i'll upload those as well. Was a very interesting and fun exhibition as it usually is.

  2. This proves my theory:
The more a company advertises...the suckier they are.

Maybe not impressive but you don't expect to see your little media supplier at the Jacob Javitz center next to the likes of MS and HP. I don't think that's so hard to understand.

Ever been to a trade show? That's very typical. "Big names" surrounded by "small names". Again, nothing special. Trade shows have got to be one of the most boring things around. Every now and then, you get lucky, and somebody is giving away something free that is worth more than $1.

Thank you 888888, I thought for a second I had written my post in Portuguese. I never said there was anything "special" about a trade show, I said seeing an online merchant that i've dealt with, as well as many others have at a tradeshow right next to a giant like HP nonetheless was impressive and surprising.

lordsmurf, I don't go to tradeshows looking for free things worth more then $1 because i'm not a mooch. Sounds like your motivation for going to tradeshows is to mooch things, that's disappointing because I know the exhibitors in tradeshows despise the mooches most of all.

No, I actually go to the trade shows to enjoy myself as well as learn about new technology which is exactly what I did this year at the Javits center. I have read here for over a year and figured it would be news to post something like this becuase it's not common and certainly hasn't been the norm at the NYC exhibition where an online media site would be there. I'll be going next year as well and I'm sure i'll enjoy myself just the same. You should try and get out more lordsmurf as it seems to me by your posts that you rarely walk outside the door of your home let alone go to any exhibition.

    Regards,

    John

I used to go to trades show because of a job I had. I hated them more than anything. The best thing about them was somebody usually gave out candy or mints that got you through the day.

The place where they had this PC expo (Jacob Javitz Center) is the same place where they have the New York auto show, which is a very impressive thing indeed.

well I also find this interesting as i've been to a few PCEXPO's and haven't ever seen an online media merchant there either so I sure would of been suprised. I've purchased from many of the online media merchants and shop4tech and newegg are my favorites. Would of been interesting to see their setup. What were those on the counter in the picture, duplicators/replicators?

Shop for tech just sent me the wrong item and will not acknowledge me to let me exchange it. They sure took my money pretty fast though.

    Sorry for the hijack.

Nobody can ever get the rumor right. I've now heard it as OfficeMax, OfficeDepot and Staples. Though shop4tech is quiet on this, the other half of the supposed relationship has debunked it.

  17. Blazey, please email your order number and/or email address so I can rectify your order. We at shop4tech are very concerned about customer service and that has become our #1 priority so we will go above and beyond to assure situations like this get resolved promptly and effectively. In your email please tell me with whom you spoke to exchange the item and which item you were sent incorrectly. We, unfortunately aren't infallable and due to the number of volume we ship mistakes are prone to occur every now and then. But as I mentioned, customer service is our primary concern for you as well as every one of our customers. Please email me with your information, so that I can take care of it immediately.

    My email address is derek@shop4tech.com

    Thank you

  18. What were those on the counter in the picture, duplicators/replicators?
Yep, that's exactly what they were. I asked and was told they outsource the manufacturing of them and are currently using Pioneer A08's for all the burners in the duplicators. The price was something like $1,300 for them which seems very reasonable, U just don't have any need for one. Neat machines though for sure.
