  1. vts_0a_0b.vob

    a = the track number
    b = the chapter number

    now if I have some .vob files that are
    vts_01_01.vob
    vts_02_01.vob
    If I wanted to go ahead and change the tracks to chapters can I go ahead and change a to 1 and b to the corressponding chapter number without having any problems?

    Hi boogie-pop,

    Try it - burn it to a re-writeable and see. But I doubt it...

    I'd guess you'll have to re-author. Something like TMPGEnc DVD Author accepts VOBs and will allow you to set tracks and chapters as you want. DVDLab will probably do the same, and I'm sure there'll be other apps too...
    There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.

    b usually isn't the chapter number, simply the number of the vob file for that titleset, in order. In fact, it would be only by pure chance or very careful design that any chapter apart from chapter one would align like that.

    In the example you have given, you have two titlesets, each with one vob file. Each of these vobs could theoretically have multiple tracks in them (you can have multiple titles in a single titleset)

  4. As usually every Vob_0a_01, Vob_0a_02, Vob_0a_03... is exactly 1GB (except the last) the chance that any of these fit to a chapter is near 0

    That would destroy the structure of the dvd completely (as a is connected with the titleset, and each titleset requires an own IFO file...)
