  1. I am experiencing a problem when trying to use my Xvid videos into Adobe Encore DVD.

This is what I did to convert the 640x480 30 FPS video into a format that Encore likes:
What I did was load my 640x480 video files into TEMPGEnc 3.0 Xpress. In the Filter dialog, I changed the Image Position in the Resize area from Full Screen to Center. Then in the Set Output dialog, I changed the screen size to 720x480 and the framerate to 29.97 FPS. This will add some small black borders to the left and right of your video so that the video is now 720x480 but did not stretch the video disproportionately or crop some of the frame off.
However, here is the problems I've run into. Adobe Encore does not like handling video clips of either Xvid or DivX. They import fine, but when trying to burn a DVD containing either Xvid or DivX video, I get an "Abnormal termination" error or some damn thing.

Using TEMPGEnc, I've tried the following options:

Converting to MPEG2 DVD format leaves a bunch of "motion lines" for lack of a better description that are really annoying. I don't know where these lines came from or how to get rid of them. They almost look like interlace lines.

Converting to Windows Media Player 9 format, or any other format/compression that Encore seems to be able to play, does take away some of the image quality.

So I am stuck, if anyone has any idea how to get around this, I would definately like to know.

what options? i don't see them. I have converted several divx and never seen any motions lines.

You can also try mainconcept mpeg encoder, canopus procoder basic.

  3. I believe that I have solved the problem.

I told TMPGEnc to deinterlace all the video, and I haven't seen any motion lines.

The motion lines must have been related to keeping the video interlaced.
