  1. When I go into the Advanced Encoding Options in MovieFactory, I can choose Aspect Ratios of 4:1 and 16:9. There is another option of 2.1:1 which is grayed out.
The AVI i'm converting is of format 2.1:1. Is there any way to have it as a selectable option? (or make a custom aspect ratio)

    I'm using MovieFactory 2 se

PS. For anyone that doesn't know how to get the advanced settings available in MF2, please read here: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/archive/t160090.html

    Thanks for any help

I can't see the use of such an AR. The DVD spec allows for 2 aspect ratios - 4:3 and 16:9. Widescreen televisions are 16:9. Nothing would recognise 2.1:1

If your footage is 2.20:1 or 2.35:1, it should be encoded as 16:9, which would leave a small portion of black top and bottom, even on a widescreen TV.
