  1. Hi there,

So I have a number of DivX files (13) and would like to Archive them to DVD. Turns out the files add to be about 200 MB too large for a DVD.

So I'm wondering what the best way would be to go about re-compressing them all to lose about 15 MB per file? (Files are currently about 350 MB)

    Thanks,

    Cam

I would split it on two dvds. It isn't worth reencoding divx, it will reduce the quality too much.

But if you really want to fit on one dvd try virtualdub, use direct stream copy under audio and under video use divx or xvid with lower bitrate. Test encode a short sample and see how it looks like. Use a bitrate calculator to calculate the new video bitrate you should use.
