If TMPGEnc gives you errors, the AVI is probably damaged in some way. For other options, take a look under Encoders in the Tools section.

My prefrence is MainConcept encoder - mainly for speed,
but as mats said your file is most likly damaged in some way, you should scan it for errors using vdub-mp3-freeze then look at the badframes.log file and cut out the bad parts (starting with the last first)

It's could be because your bitrate is too low. What settings are you using in TMPGEnc? CQ @ ??? CBR @ ??? VBR max / avg / min = ??? / ??? / ???

What setting for "Motion Search Estimate"?

How about the source AVIs? Use AVICodec to get info on them and post here - it might be that they're not a good quality source.

Post more info (now and always)...

Usually caused because the framerate of the source and of the product were not matched. In TMPGEnc you must use the template that matches your source or do a proper framerate conversion.

    Hi Snoop69,

When you're encoding to MPEG with TMPGEnc:

    1. Are you encoding for VCD, SVCD or DVD?

    2. If DVD, what resolution are you using? You're not using 720 x 480 / 576 (NTSC / PAL) by any chance are you...?

It's PAL (25 fps) so you should be using the PAL template.
