  1. Hello, I was attempting to create my own DTS demo DVD. So far I have ripped my favorite scenes from some movies using dvdshrink. I have then used vobedit to join vob's together from the same movie (ie: multiple scenes from one movie). I then used DVD Lab to create a DVD, using each Vob as a title on the disc. In most cases I do not get any audio, or one of the 10 titles has sound and the others do not. DVD Lab supports DTS and SDDS but perhaps there is something else I am missing. Are DTS vob's not compatible on the same disc ? A few of them were DTS-ES 6.1 but because it is matrixed into the rear channels I thought that would not matter and be transparent. Any help or insight into this would be great. I have not yet tried a DD5.1 demo disc yet, perhaps it would work easier ?

    Thanks
    Tom

    Hello,

I wouldn't think dts 6.1 or 5.1 would make a difference. Just remember that a dts only dvd is out of spec and won't be 100% compatible. I've played dts only discs alright but your results may vary.

I think the problem is when you rip and cut from dvd shrink. I tried cut some video and got audio problems when I cut a clip from the middle of a video, i had to use ac3fix to get it to work.....but I don't know andy dtsfix though. It worked when I cut from the start of the video.

  4. Thanks for your replies. Each individual Vob file plays fine and has DTS sound when played in Powerdvd. however if I combone them all using Vobedit and play that single vob file I get sound issues. Also, as I stated before if I add them as separate titles in DVD Lab Pro I still get problems. I think I also tried just 3 clips that were all DTS 5.1 standard. So something else might be going on. (yes, I do know about the POst Audio Tool in Dvd lab that changes the audio on the final files) Any other ideas ? Its something I would love to get working as a custom DTS or DDD5.1 demo disc would be a great thing, sort of like an MP3 playlist. Says alot about a persons tastes :-)

just write to DTS and ask for one of thier demo disks (there are 8 or 9 of them of them) , they are really great and some stuff you wouldn't otherwise have ...

i have them all (of course) ..

    #8 has

    1. DTS Logo

    2. The Lord of the Rings (ES 6.1 discrete (not matrix))
    a) marshes
    b) Deeping Wall

    3. Pirates of the caribbean: curse of the black pearl (ES 6.1 matrix)
    a) storm
    b) battle

    4. X2 (couple chapters)

    5. Daredevil (couple chapters)

    6. Gangs of new york (couple chapters)

    7. Casper (superb effects and quality, a demo piece for many years)

    8. Chicago (big section, the complete finale)

    9. Medeski martin and wood (ES 6.1 discrete)
this music video and sound quality on this will blow you away .. from CD (Uninvisable) mastered only for DTS release.

    10. HEART (live) Mono Lisa and Mad Hatters

  6. Hi all.

woodsy15, why don't you use DVD Shrink to make your compilation?
Is it because you want to add a menu?

  7. I never thought of that. I always think of reauthor mode for ripping one movie track from a disc. I guess you can drag in all your vob files from each movie that I rip. Menu's would be nice but I will give it a shot. Perhaps when it has completed I can then import the final vobs into DVD lab and make menus. Thanks for your reply.
