  1. I can encode a ripped VIDEO_TS folder with Handbrake no worries. The video and audio both come out OK. However, I wish to use ffmpegX so that I can have more control over the encoding process.

I have used the settings below on exactly the same VIDEO_TS folder, and the picture is very good. However, there is no audio at all. What intrigues me is that it appears that ffmpegX can't actually find the audio to encode. When I preview the settings there is no sound, and the log file says "MPEG: No audio stream found -> no sound."

If anyone could tell me what I'm doing wrong regarding the audio I'd be grateful. I've tried this method on two other DVDs, no change.

Also, if anyone has any suggestions on a better config to create a 700MB file that will be playable for most people, I'd love to hear them. All that I have done on the video page is switch the aspect to 16:9 and pressed 'auto', returning the video size and bitrate that you see. Should I use another codec, even?

    Thanks.

  2. Apparently mencoder failed to recognize the audio track. Try using 0SEx first to extract as a single VOB file, instead of a VIDEO_TS structure.

  4. major - thanks, I ripped it into a single VOB first and it was fine.

ykz - I tried that and no love. Looks like it's the 0SEx method for moi.
