Try a program called hijack this.

It will work, but you must be careful or you will screw things up.

  5. Or ... if you have WinXP, use system systore to a date that you're sure you didn't have the spyware.

Don't forget to make sure system restore can only touch the C drive and not the other drives. If you have some files that may or may not be touched during the system restore, move it to the other drives.

  6. Use Spybot Resident too. A combination of that and ad-aware will take care of 99% of common spyware. Also try windows startup inspector, found at www.spychecker.com . Also go to run and type msconfig. Set your boot settings to Diagnostic Startup and run those apps after a reboot, or just schedule a boot-time run.

Also... be sure to check your prefetch folder as well as temp folders for any occurrences of the .exe files.

I think one of your problems might be the process rather than the programs you are using. Try this way:

    Turn off System Restore
Clean out your temp files, IE cache
Boot into Safe mode without networking
Run Adaware, Spybot, and a virus program of your choice (all with udated definition files)
    Reboot into Normal Windows
    Turn on Restore
