  1. Is there anyway to make a DVD (say in its IFO) able to be played back in random play mode on a DVD Player?

I ask becuase I am using Audio DVD Creator and its great. You can go CD to AC3 with a much higher bitrate than MP3. Only problem is that I can't do random play on it. My DVD manual says that it depends on the disc. Does that mean the DVD itself or a DVD vs. a CD for random play?

It means that a DVD Video cant (?) have a random play playback. And what Audio DVD Creator produces is from the players perspective a DVD Video. When you put mp3 on a CD/DVD, it's up to the player firmware what it can do with the files - play them in order, or at random, or ordered by file size or whatever.

2 areas to think of here:

Most (all?) players have A/B, Repeat, Shuffle, etc. for CD Audio. This sometimes also works for DVD Video Tracks/Chapters---Regardless of how it's authored. Raw Filesystem MPEGs, MP3s, JPGs--that's another matter. It's touch & go and depends on the model.

    Then there's authoring.
If you have an authoring app that can do calculations with GPRMs and SPRMs, you CAN do random (or quasi-random) play of tracks. However, not that many have that level of capability. Scenarist, Maestro, DVDStudioPro, possibly others.
If you have one of these, great! You can author a std. DVD-Video disc that will do correct randomplay on any player. If not, ???. Maybe try manually adjusting in IFOEdit.
