I bought Sony Vegas Movie Studio+DVD. I have TMPGENC dolby AC-3 encoder. When I encode my files to ac-3, they don't play in Movie Studio or DVD Architect 2.
Is there any way to get them to support AC-3? Or must I buy the complete Vegas 5 software at $500+ ?
I find the whole AC-3 issue insane. Here in the USA, it is supposedly a DVD standard. MP2 audio is NOT standard, although it can play fine in most players. But the point is, why don't these software support AC-3, if that is the standard? All these software, are making people produce non-standard DVD's!!!

Hello,
ac3 is Dolby property I believe. I imagine all software has to get a Dolby license to do ac3 correctly.
Mp2 works just fine for me in the US. I have a hauppage wintv pvr250 and it uses mpeg audio. I've never had a problem with it on standalones.
