hey guys,
ive got some .avi and divx files, but when i play it on the philips dvp642k, it plays without sound. (and sometimes there are no sounds and pictures). ive tried using Virtual dub to convert the .avi files but it stil plays WITHOUT sound.
i was just wondering if u guys can tell me the SETTINGS to use when converting the .avi or divx files to play on the DVP642k player, so i can watch the movie with SOUND and pictures???
(or u guys can recommend someother conversion software, that allows me to convert the .avi file to play on the player with sound and picture?)
thanks

I would try to convert the audio only, set video to direct stream copy and Audio - Full processing mode, select an audio compression (for ex mp3) and then File - Save AVI.

What was wrong with the method thor300 suggested? That allows you to use VirtualDub to encode audio within the video into a format your player might be able to use.
Although I have had no experience with this player and I do not know the limitations of the formats it can play, I would use AutoGK to convert future DVDs and use:
- Video as DivX on Home Theatre Mode, Q-Pel and GMC (Global Motion Compensation) disabled
- Audio as MP3 (not AC3).
Basically, you're going to have to encode a few short sample clips and see what suits your player best if nobody can give you a definitive answer.
