the real problem with studying maps for the sizes of country is that map makers promote their country more on the maps by giving them a lower scale of ratio. ie. they make their own countries look bigger on the maps.
it has been a problem with US and UK atlases for the last 100 years and doesnt look like getting sorted out any time soon.
being an Aussie though we are on the other end of the population density scale. we have cattle ranches that are bigger than texas.

There really is an England?

Never, I tell you, NEVER!!
The only time I venture over the border is to take my wife to work (Swindon/Birmingham) when I need the car.
It even pisses me off that I can look out my Window and see Bristol - bloody place, it looks so bleak.
OH! listen to me I sound like Max Boyce.
:P -
Curryman - if you can drive there, then you're close enough

I was twice in London the last 4 years. I stayed a couple of weeks both times. And I had money to spent too (my company paid...).
It's a nice place to be, but not for me. But I have friends that loves the place. I bet it is more a matter of taste and if you like the life style it offers...
BTW: London is the most expensive city, but also the average salary is higher other countries.
When you count the salaries with the cost of living, then other countries are much more expencive for real (for their own citizents that is).La Linea by Osvaldo Cavandoli

The United Kingdom is only a little bigger than the State of Victoria in Australia.
This is smallest state in this country and it is only 227,620 sq km in size.
The State of New South Wales in Australia, the size is 801,600 sq km.
N.S.W. is over double the size of United Kingdom and this is where Sydney is located as the capital city.
The State of New York in the U.S. The size is 139, 831 sq km.
So, the empire state is so much smaller than United Kingdom.I am a computer and movie addict -
