    Very odd.

I was searching for some travel info last night, and I click on a link in the search engine. My screen is attacked by porn images, and launching-to-death of pop-ups.

    A system-tray click later (pop-up blocker) and that's over.

A few hours later, I go to print. Now, I had noticed my printer flashing earlier, and the warning window (had to manually launch it) told me the paper size was wrong (I keep it stocked with 8½x14, not 8½x11). I ignored it at first, figured it was just being stupid. There was no print tray open. When I go to print an image later, in Photoshop, the print tray THEN opens, and it's totally full of porn from some site I never went to.

    WTF??!!

Had to reboot everything. Print tray was confused.

  2. Is that what they call porn these days, "travel info"?

Probably one of those damned sites that uses a dictionary in its meta tags. No matter what you type, you're bound to hit it. Bastards.

  4. I thought most search sites fixed that problem by ignoring a site with more than X amount of meta tags.

Annoying aren't they. It's why I try to avoid those sites and get my porn from tgpo. No popups or stealth printer jobs that way. Just shameless tgpo ads for his home videos

  6. I can't understand how they think that taking over someone's computer and being extremely obnoxious is a good way to promote their business. I wonder what their thinking is....

  7. They get money each time one of those windows pop up...it shows a hit from your IP and their sponsors reward them for it.

That's why these guys go to the extreme on figuring out every way they can to get as many hits as possible - the money adds up pretty quick.

A mother of a teenage girl was bragging about her daughter making at least $900 a month on just one porn link alone.

When something like that happens, it probably planted a parasite in your registry...and it muliplies and keeps installing adware and/or spyware all over your computer.

You need something like SpyHunter to get rid of the parasites.
Also use Yahoo or Google's Anti-Spy toolbar.

Spybot doesn't get rid of those.

    I hate popup blockers.
Over half the websites I visit have important popups (and they aren't porn sites )

  11. Better pop-up blockers will allow them on sites you specify....

"Travel Info" you don't have to explain yourself to us Smurf.

thinking something was amiss with lordsmurf's story, I took it upon myself to do a little rooting through his temporary internet files...oh he clears his history...but apparently forgot about the index.dat file....anyway....

I found several things, including a membership to "Adult Smurf friendfinders" network I also found this pic spooled for printing...which far be it from me to judge anyone for anything but I think lordsmurf is involved in a little different type of "S & M" than the rest of us have heard of

I found this pic on google by just searching "smurfette" it was on the first page of the results

With Firefox, you can tell it to stop blocking popups from certain sites.

Or from all sites.... Every once in a while a popup gets though Firefox, when it happens I just kind stare at the screen amazed for a few seconds before I remember what to do with those things.

  20. The real question here was, did the printer output quality material or not?

No. Thankfully not. Laser toner isn't cheap, and I'm already low on another color again.

I don't even want to know where that Smurfette image came from.

actually my intent was not that type of smurfette, but a google search turned that pic up on the first page of results and I just can't let an opportunity like that go by.
